Cesarean rates are at nearly 1 in 3 births nowadays. With the increase in highly medicalized births comes a backlash from those who want something different. More and more women are trying to find an alternative to the options provided in the hospital to help to induce labor and manage their pain.
There is a method that can be used and it is gaining momentum in certain circles. It’s called maternity acupressure. It has been approved by the World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health. Acupressure points are applied to and in doing so the cervix is helped to dilate, early labor is stimulated and contractions are sped up. It works with the body but does not over-stimulate it. It’s a bit of fine-tuning, if you will. Labor is on!
