The origin is traditional Himeji-kawazaiku(leather-craft).It uses Shironamesigawa(WhitE-tanned leather).In Edo-era,the leather craft and technique transmitted from Himeji.It was the start of Bunkogawa.
Bunko-ya Oozeki was established about 80 years ago.They have been keeping the traditional art,at the same time,they have been advancing to their original stage. Now,among many leather crafts,it is only one brand in Japan that is called Bunkogawa.
They use white-leather(popular type).On the leater,design-shave is pushued on it to line.
And some case,they crumple to make creases called sibo in vacant space.Because the sibo adds reality as leather itself.Touch by touch,craftman colors on it with specilai care.
After that,to make it looks older,the craft is coated with a powder of seeds of a plant.
The combination of antique-taste and vivid color, how splendid the craft is!
Finaly,the leather is finished as each goods by craftman's hands-work.A wallet,business
card holder,card holder,and the more,zori(Japanese straw sandals) and paper case…,every arietion of Bunkogawa make us feel at ease with warmth.That is the very taste of handmade with sprits and sense of craftman that we never find in machine-made.
