The makan corner where there's tasty food and cosy fellowship...
Why we are different (even though we ate the same nyonya dishes)...

To my friends of Cell 28.08.08,

My sincere apologies if we had detracted from the discussion on 'Water-Walking' and dived deep into the talk on social / communication styles. Maureen was initially worried that we had swung from Bible study to Team-building.

The social styles that I had discussed were first identified in the 1950s and overtime, they became more scientifically refined. I am not an expert in this area, just someone who has awareness of this knowledge.

There is truth to say that all of us are made in the image of God yet we are all unique. I believe that each social style shows a stronger reflection of particular aspects of God's image.

Those of us who are 'Drivers', demonstrate that part about being mindful of the task to be completed and fulfilled.

Those who are 'Expressives' show that part about having vision and energy - the aspiration to sing a 'new song'.

The 'Amiables' demonstrate mindfulness for unity.

And of course, the 'Analyticals' show wisdom and careful evaluation before making decisions.

For those of us who are brought together for a purpose, I understand that it is a challenge for us to be versatile and to be able to work with each other effectively. I urge you to remember that we are all made different and it is a wonderful to embrace and celebrate each other's social styles.

To bring closure to the discussion, I sign off with the following verses from Ephesians 4:4-6

"There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
