Sacrifice

I am finding a disquieting disconnect between the rhetoric coming out of U.S. national politians of all stripes and what I see. They all have goals and aims that they want to reach for but give no way to pay for it. They are taxing my children and their children by spending more then what comes in. They send people to war with out requiring sacrifice in matierial or money.

If something is truely worth doing is it not worth building a case to show why we should sacrifice for the cause.

What I do see are people being told that they can have their cake and eat it too. Greed rules the roost in business, as business trys to push every last dime out of 'effecincies' for those who run the companies. Money has be come the scarce resource that ecomomics are based.

This saddens me, because I think we could be such much greater country then we are today if our economics were based off of people and not money or things. If we scarifice our collective treasure to make the collective worth of people greater then hording it to make our the collective wealth larger, we would be much closer to the ideals of God for our lifes as a nation and people.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

"Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter."

James 5:3-5 NIV
