So what's a 105/115 Coupe?

One problem that I have had in creating this website is to find an appropriate way of defining the cars that I want to cover. My intention is to include all of the models that developed from the Bertone designed coupe bodyshell that first appeared as the Giulia Sprint GT of 1963 (to be more accurate, the original body shape was actually designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro while he was working at Bertone). This model formed the basis of a whole range of models, such as the Sprint GT Veloce, GT 1300 Junior, 1750 GTV, GT 1600 Junior, and the 2000 GTV which finally left the market in 1977. Related models include the awesome GTA racing machines (of 1300, 1600, 1750 and 2000 cc capacities), and the rare GTC cabriolets.

Using the model numbering doesn't help clarify things much either. The original Giulia Sprint GT was a 105 series, as were the last European 2000 GTV models. However the US model 2000 GTV versions were 115 series, as were some of the European spec Junior versions....

Confused? I don't blame you! I guess that it made some sense to Alfa Romeo at the time...

Several different versions of Alfa's classic all alloy twin cam engine were used in these cars over the years. There were changes to braking systems and interior trim, minor body shell modifications and different wheels, however the most beautiful body style that Alfa Romeo has ever produced was used throughout!

So please don't feel excluded if I say "GTV", or "GT/GTV" and you have a GT Junior or a GTA: I mean to include you too!
