Subject: Brookland Manual

I could not agree more with Stephen Mostad regarding some of the Brookland's

ommissions. I think that we all ran into the same problems by following the

Brookland manual. I'm assuming it was applicable to the Duetto and GTV but

some stuff just do not work for the 74 and later spiders. (like R/R the upper

oil pan gasket without taking the engine out). Don't try it, it's a mess even

though it looks temptingly easy in the @#$!! book!

Maybe one day someone will create an addendum from personal experiences...

Seb.

CD ROM Manuals

Subject: Alfa 2000 CD ROM

I heartily endorse the CD ROM for 1972-74 Alfa 2000 (105/115) GTV and spider

sold by Car Disc International. It includes copies of the complete set of

workshop manuals Alfa Romeo issued for these cars, parts manuals (including

competition parts and special tools), the technical specifications manual,

owner's manuals, and a good selection of sales literature. It contains much

of the technical information and diagrams a do-it-yourself owner or even a

professional shop is likely to need, plus some fun things for browsing. At

US $69.95, it's also a bargain, if you already have the computer equipment

needed to use it.

While the disk is intented for a US audience, it should be nearly as useful

to people in Europe, or owners of European-market cars in any location.

Alfa never issued new shop manuals specifically for the 2000 series,

choosing instead to add supplements for new features to the materials that

had already been produced for the earlier 1600, 1750 and 1300 Giulia cars.

As a result, there is a supplement on SPICA fuel injection and other

features unique to the US model, but all of the information for other

versions of the Giulia chassis is there, as well. The parts manual for the

European spider and GTV is also included. The owner's manuals are

specifically for the US models, and the sales literature selections have a

US slant, as well. Though labelled for the spider and GTV, the CD also

includes information on the 2000 berlina.
