Nephilim and related peoples--Offspring of renegade angels

The destruction of the earth by flood(the Deluge, Gen 6:1-7), was a direct move of God against evil earthly inhabitants and it seems, against the offspring of fallen angels, Nephilim, themselves. See Jude 4-6, 2 Peter 2:4

The Bible plainly states that in the anti-diluvian world, "bneey-haa'Elohiym" (or b'nai Elohim), sons of God, bore children with the daughters of men(Gen 6:4). This resulted in offspring known as "npiliym", giants or mighty ones. Enoch, the Prophet, says that about 200 Watchers descended into Mt. Hermon in the days of Jared.(see below--you view a copy of The Book of Enoch, online at http://wesley.nnu.edu) These angelic beings had agreed together to take wives of the human women. Their hybrid offspring were not spirit-beings, of course, but were most certainly host to the psychic abilities and supernatural activities of their angelic fathers. This unauthorized union and resulting hybrid race apparently helped to bring about the abominations which caused the Lord to consider the destruction of the earth. These creative angelic beings along with those willful men, were continuing the rebellion of Satan and were punished for it. It is unclear whether the actual participants of these unholy unions are currently bound in chains, or just have the darkness of a certain judgement overhanging there head. See Jude 4-6, 2 Peter 2:4

These are their chiefs of tens.

1 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms 2 and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. And they 3 became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: Who consumed 4 all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against 5 them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and 6 fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones.

Sexual contact between demons and humans is currently known as "Incubus" or "succubus" and is frequently reported even now by people in satanic circles. Additionally, this contact occurs under the deception of Alien encounters. There is no current evidence of this contact being fertile or causing offspring, though alien contactees sometimes report being "impregnated" and then after a length of time, undergoing a medical birth similar to a "c" section in which an alien embyro is harvested.

That the Hebrew word "Nephilim" has been related to other words meaning "giant" may or may not be correct--the word can mean "mighty ones". There are several schools of thought along this line but most scholars feel that these angelic offspring may have been marked or bear traits of giantism. This unauthorized act of angelic beings may have had two-fold purpose: one) To taint the human blood in-order to ruin the possibility of the birth of a coming Messiah. and Two). To have earthly bodies to possess in order that these Fallen Angels may more easily work in that present world. For the genetic trait to have continued after the flood( which it did), either post-flood genetic tampering has occurred, or one of the occupants of the Ark would have had to be a carrier of the genes. Noah could not have had any Satanic curse within himself which could have been passed on, seeing as how he was deemed righteous before the Lord. Likewise, for his sons, unless they had demonic contact after the flood. Thus, the next plausible explanation would be that satanic involvement passed through one of Noah's daughter-in-laws.

After being a "fruit inspector" of the recorded actions of all involved, it seems that the family of Ham had a propensity to be involved in evil activity. It is possible that Ham's wife contained in herself the genetic (and spiritual) blood of the nephilim. At any rate, there are recorded traces of "giantism" which came through Ham to Cush, and even Nimrod was said to be a "mighty one" in the earth. Nimrod is said to be the founder of the Chaldean area and Shinar and Babel, from which the propogation of the religions of the ancient Chaldeans and Phoenicians(see Astoreth below)emerged, which are satanic and anti-god in nature. There is much evidence that these ancient people had face to face contact with "gods" or "visitors".

It is hard to acertain whether there are any present day offspring of the nephilim inhabiting the earth, but there is definitely those who are possessed by demons. As a matter of fact, there has always been accounts and reports of demonic possession throughout history. But beyond actual possession, the possibility of oppression or "contact" is very real. Not so much to christian believers(though you could sustain a physical demonic attack!), but to those who are outside "the Ark of Safety". Any tampering with satanic ritual--ouija boards, role-playing games, consulting psychics, tampering with astrology and even listening to satanically "blessed" music, can open one up to demonic attack. Sometimes the contact is readily apparent, sometimes it is subversive. For example, certain people now tamper with spirit guides or guardian angels, and this seems harmless enough, but the messenger always leads the hearer in a direction other than traditional Biblical Christianity(1 Peter 5:8). Likewise, the current contacts of alien beings with "contactees" or "abductees" is nothing new, but is increasing in frequency leading many trustworthy theologians to say that this will be a major deception of Satan in the end-times--the appearance of a race of aliens who will usher in the worship and kingdom of the Beast(Rev 12:7-12). We know them as "the fallen ones" and they will be allowed to run amuck in the tribulation society until they join their brethren, chained, in the lake of the Abyss(Rev 20:10).

They dwelt in the south of Palestine, in the neighbourhood of Hebron (Gen. 23:2; Josh. 15:13). In the days of Abraham (Gen. 14:5, 6) they inhabited the region afterwards known as Edom and Moab, east of the Jordan. They were probably a remnant of the original inhabitants of Palestine before the Canaanites, a Cushite tribe from Babel, and of the same race as the Phoenicians and the Egyptian shepherd kings.

Their formidable warlike appearance, as described by the spies sent to search the land, filled the Israelites with terror. They seem to have identified them with the Nephilim, the "giants" (Gen. 6:4; Num. 13:33) of the antediluvian age. There were various tribes of Anakim (Josh. 15:14). Joshua finally expelled them from the land, except a remnant that found a refuge in the cities of Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod (Josh. 11:22). The Philistine giants whom David encountered (2 Sam. 21:15-22) were descendants of the Anakim. (See GIANTS.)

Text: lofty men; giants, (Gen. 14:5; 2 Sam. 21:16, 18, marg. A.V., Rapha, marg. R.V., Raphah; Deut. 3:13, R.V.; A.V., "giants"). The aborigines of Palestine, afterwards conquered and dispossessed by the Canaanite tribes, are classed under this general title. They were known to the Moabites as Emim, i.e., "fearful", (Deut. 2:11), and to the Ammonites as Zamzummim. Some of them found refuge among the Philistines, and were still existing in the days of David. We know nothing of their origin. They were not necessarily connected with the "giants" (R.V., "Nephilim") of Gen. 6:4. (See GIANTS.)

Text: a race of giants; "a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims" (Deut. 2:20, 21). They were overcome by the Ammonites, "who called them Zamzummims." They belonged to the Rephaim, and inhabited the country afterwards occupied by the Ammonites. It has been conjectured that they might be Ham-zuzims, i.e., Zuzims dwelling in Ham, a place apparently to the south of Ashteroth (Gen. 14:5), the ancient Rabbath-ammon.

Notice the similarities as you read along They are the "doctrines of demons" where satanic forces interfered with humans and caused themselves to be worshipped. This is an age-old trick of the Devil, in his desire to be worshipped--he plays on man's in-born need to reach out to God. Satan will make you a personalized form of worship allowing you to feel good and not have to deal with your personal sin. Jehovah warns against this in a word of wisdom through Moses: "Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods(fallen angels and demons!) and worship them." Deuteronomy 11:16

Astarte (or Ashtoreth, or Astoreth), Phoenician goddess of fertility, often identified with Greek goddess Aphrodite . see also Aphrodite

BAAL. The Semitic word baal, meaning owner or master, was also used in ancient religions for lord or god, and it is still defined as a Canaanite or Phoenician deity. Among the greatest of the Semitic peoples' deities were Baal and Astarte--both symbols of fertility. Baal, the god of the sun, was supposed to make crops grow and flocks increase. Astarte, the goddess of the moon, was identified with passionate love.

The religion of Baal was spread by Phoenician sailors throughout the Mediterranean world (see Phoenicians). Baal cults grew up in Asia Minor, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Carthage, and Spain. Baal and Astarte, under different names, were worshiped in Babylonia and Assyria. The priests taught that Baal was responsible for droughts, plagues, and other calamities, and they made sacrifices to appease the angry god. Bullocks, goats, sheep, and sometimes humans were burned alive. In the Bible, Baal is also called Beelzebub (Baalzebub), one of Satan's fallen angels.

Babylonian/Assyrian

Ishtar, chief goddess of Babylonia and Assyria, corresponding to Phoenician Astarte and Greek Aphrodite; the "great mother," goddess of fertility, love, war . Hammurabi raised the god of Babylon, Marduk, to first place among the deities. Scholars rewrote old Sumerian myths and gave Marduk, rather than Enlil, credit for creating the universe. The Babylonians' chief female deity was the ancient mother goddess Innini of Uruk, renamed Ishtar. As goddess of fertility, Ishtar could grant her worshipers crops, lambs, or children. In the hot midsummer month named for her son Tammuz, vegetation dried up and people fasted until he rose from the dead to make the earth green again. The worship of Ishtar (also called Astarte) and Tammuz spread over southwestern Asia and reached Egypt in the myth of Isis and Osiris. Later the deities appeared in Greece as Demeter and Persephone.

14) ISIS AND OSIRIS. The most popular of the gods in ancient Egyptian mythology was Osiris, god of the sun, agriculture, and health. His queen was Isis, who was also his wife and sister. She represented the moon, as Osiris did the sun, and was believed to have taught Egyptians the arts of agriculture and medicine. She was also credited with instituting marriage.

Seth induced Osiris to get into a large chest, which was then closed and thrown into the Nile River. Isis recovered her husband's body, but Seth took it and cut it into pieces. Isis buried the pieces, and Osiris was thereafter regarded as god of the dead. His son, Horus, avenged the murder by conquering Seth.

APHRODITE. Of all the goddesses of ancient mythology, none was more widely venerated than the goddess of love. The Greeks called her Aphrodite. The Romans worshiped her as Venus. In Homer's 'Iliad' Aphrodite is said to be the daughter of Zeus and Dione, a Titan goddess. Other stories tell how she sprang, full-grown, from the foam of the sea near the island Cythera. (Aphros is Greek for "foam.") From there Zephyrus, the west wind, carried her gently on a shell to Cyprus, which was always regarded as her real home. There the Hours met her, clothed her, and brought her to the gods. Every god--even Zeus himself--wanted this beautiful, golden goddess as his wife. Aphrodite was too proud and rejected them all. To punish her, Zeus gave her to Hephaestus (Vulcan in Roman mythology), the lame and ugly god of the forge. This good-natured craftsman built her a splendid palace on Cyprus. Aphrodite soon left him for Ares (Mars), the handsome god of war. One of their children was Eros (Cupid), the winged god of love. Always eager to help lovers in distress, Aphrodite was equally quick to punish those who resisted the call of love. Cupid shot golden arrows into the hearts of those his mother wanted to unite in marriage. Aphrodite also had a magic girdle that made its wearer irresistible, and she sometimes loaned it to others. Under her influence Zeus more than once fell in love with mortal maidens. Afraid of being mocked someday by Aphrodite, Zeus decreed she should lose her heart to Anchises, a shepherd of Troy. From this union was born Aeneas, the mythical ancestor of the Roman people (see Aeneas). Aphrodite helped Paris of Troy win the beautiful Helen of Greece (see Trojan War). In the war that followed she proved to be a so-called "coward goddess." When Aeneas was wounded by Diomedes, she lifted him up in her soft arms and bore him from the field. Diomedes, advised by Athena that he could attack Aphrodite with safety, thrust at her with his spear and cut her hand. Aphrodite fled weeping to Mount Olympus to be healed and comforted. Aphrodite was worshiped chiefly as the goddess of human love. She was also widely venerated as a nature goddess. Because she came from the sea, sailors prayed to her to calm the wind and the waves. In the 'Iliad' Aphrodite is called the Cyprian or Cytherea. She is also referred to as Dionaea, after her mother, or even Dione. Other names for her are Aphrogenia, Anadyomene, and Astarte. It is often written Ashtoreth, particularly in Bible references to Philistine idols. The name may have been derived from that of the Assyrian goddess Ishtar. . There were the 12 major Greek gods. There were other lesser ones whom the Greeks worshiped. Demeter, for instance, was the goddess of grain. Her legend centered on the story of her daughter Persephone, who was stolen by Hades and taken to live in the underworld. Demeter heard her daughter's cries, but no one knew where she had been taken. Because Demeter was distressed by Persephone's disappearance, she lost interest in the harvest, and as a result there was widespread famine. When Apollo traveled under the Earth as he did over it, he saw Persephone in the underworld. Then Zeus sent Hermes to bring Persephone back. Hades knew he must obey Zeus, but because Persephone had eaten one pomegranate seed in the land of the dead she had to return there for four months of every year. Each year when her daughter returned, Demeter made the Earth bloom and bear fruit again. Through this story the Greeks interpreted the miracle of spring. After Persephone returned to Hades in the fall, winter arrived. Dionysus was the god of wine. He was a nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation. Lavish festivals called Dionysia were held in his honor. He came to represent the irrational side of human nature, while Apollo represented order and reason. The attendants of Dionysus were the satyrs, minor gods representing the forces of nature. They were depicted with bodies of animals and had small horns and tails like a goat's(demons?). Similar in appearance to the satyrs was Pan, a god who did not live on Mount Olympus. Instead he guarded the flocks while playing his pipes.
