Truths and Misconceptions
Even though suicide is a violation of Divine Law, there  is a separation of church and state in America. No citizen has the right to impose his religious and moral values on another citizen.

Competent patients should have the right to choose death.

Already exists in society albeit in secrecy.  In a poll of 1,902 physicians in Mount Sinai Hospital, statistics show that  6.4% of those responded that they at least helped one patient assist suicide.   Among those responded, 53% said that it was caused by lethal injection.  29% of those agreed to help because of patient's severe pain.78% of physicians performed it because of patient was in severe discomfort. Legalizing physician-assisted enables openness of discussion.

Compassion may be a responsive way to alleviate unbearable,  suffering pain.

Primary goal of physician concerning terminally ill  patients is preventing the suffering at the end of life through hastening  an inevitable death. (

There are other options such as Pain managment programs.  However, these programs are extremely costly and patients already feel burden with end of life health cost
