The night by this same candle ~
learning to touch each other
learning to see each other
talking in circles
until we were touching
the gentle curves
and soft hollows
of ourselves ~
with our feelings,
comforting those places that
trembled with vulnerability ~
so afraid, we both were.
We pryed gently into those soft places
in awe at the answers we discovered ~
about each other/ourselves
never knowing they were there.
One broke out suddenly/in pain ~
Crying.
You wrapt your feelings and your
arms
around my shoulders
gently accepting what you found there ~
sifting through the pain and the
love
that came tumbling
out ~
Cradling my pain
and gently
~so gently
returning my love
with yours.
