College of Marine Objectives:
 
Marine Transportation
 
  • Within the framework of the general objectives of the University of Cebu - Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, the College of Marine Transportation emphasizes the formative value of an integrated liberal and technical education.
  •  
  • It is the special aim of the college to professionalize and improve the standards of the Nautical profession to meet the needs of the shipping industry in general and of our local shipping industries in particular.
  •  
  • In order to reach goal, the college places paricular emphasis upon the following:
  • 1. To provide opportunities for the development of gentlemen officers through rigorous disciplinary training;
    2. To produce technical men equipped with the knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of Seamanship and Navigation;
    3. To instill in the students the values of truth, justice, and love of humanity;
    4. To foster patriotism, nationalism and respect for human rights through curricular and co-curricular activities;
    5. To adhere to the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO); and
    6. To organize community outreach activities through research and extension programs.
     
    Marine engineering
     
    The Department of Marine Engineering aims to provide the following:
    1. A thorough training in the fundamentals of Marine Engineering on both theorical and practical aspects in order to promote critical creative thinking, broaden scientific and technological knowledge, and insure vocational efficiency;
    2. A continous enrichment and improvement of standards, methods and procedure of instruction as well as management techniques;and
    3. A character formation along Godly and democratic principles in order to fully develop nationalistic attitudes among the in their chosen field.
     
    Specific Objectives:
     
    The faculty of the Department aims to produce cadet capable of:
    1. Developing their own potentials and who are disciplined, courteous, and God fearing;
    2. Conducting themselves in proper decorum on board ship or in community activities as an officer and gentleman imbued with high sense of duty and idealism.
    3. Projecting themselves as persons of high technical training through researchers, creativeness, inventing or innovating the existing machinery; and
    4. Performing their duties as good citizens by contributing their professional knowledge for the good general public and country.
