EU_HF (Operating FREE OF COST software) Version 2.6

This software is to be used by all the radioamateurs
for operating in "EUROPEAN HF CHAMPIONSHIP" or for logging
QSOs after the Contest.
You are free to copy it for Yourself or for any other
radioamateur.
This software may be placed at any site in the WWW.

Start setup is copied to ini-file and to summary
file. If You have written Your entry, National entrance,
Your E-mail and (or) address, these questions will not
be asked You any more. But You may edit Your summary file
in any editor.
You may choose "WRITELOG" style for logging Your QSOs
after finishing the Contest.

   The directory contains 5 files:
'EU_HF.exe' - The executable file for operating
in "EUROPEAN HF CHAMPIONSHIP" or for
                     logging Your QSOs after it.
    'Texts.lst' - File of CW messages (F1 .. F10, "Ins",
"+", "-" and "\" Keys). You may change
any message following the lines format
                     (by Alt+T or editing 'Texts.lst').
                       Symbols:
                           $   means Your own callsign,
@ means station in QSO window,
                           # means Your sending number.
    'Stns.lst' - A small database with stations
                    usually participate in EUROPEAN HF
                    CHAMPIONSHIP or having been active
in several European contests in 2000.
New callsigns are added to this
database while You operate in the Contest.
    'AAF_ADIF.exe' - Separate software to convert UA1AAF
format to ADIF. It is good for any
                    UA1AAF softwares for international
                    contests ("ARI", "RDXC", "EU_HF",
                    "CQ-M", "BALTIC", "FIELDDAY" etc.)
ADIF is the international data format,
supported by almost all using softwares
                    (N6TR, LOG-EQF etc.).
    'Read_me.txt' - This file.

As a result of operating the following files appears:
'EU_HF.ini' - Text file with Your callsign, entry,
band, mode, sent number and CW sending
port, set before. But if Your old log
is present, the next sent number etc
will be detected according the last
QSO in Your log. You may change it.
'YourCall.log' - Your main Log file that is to read
                      next time.
   'YourCall.bak' - Your old log.
   'YourCall.sum' - Your summary file.
Only 2 of them are to be mailed to Contest Committee:
             'YourCall.log' and 'YourCall.sum'.

CW speed Up/Down for 2 WpM.
     Esc Stop CW sending.

CW sending is possible via COM1 .. COM4 ports
or via LPT1 .. LPT2 ports.
All the connections with serial or parallel
ports are the same as for N6TR & K1EA software.

   COM (serial) ports with DB9:
CW key output - pin 4 (DTR),
PTT output - pin 7 (RTS),
              Ground - pin 5 (SG).
   COM (serial) ports with DB25:
CW key output - pin 20 (DTR),
PTT output - pin 4 (RTS),
              Ground - pin 7 (Ground).

   LPT (parallel) ports with DB25:
CW key output - pin 17 (Select input),
CW strobe - pin 1 (Strobe),
PTT output - pin 16 (InitPort),
              Ground - pin 18 or 25 (Ground).

LPT ports are good for WINDOWS too, but COM ports
are O'Key only for DOS. Sorry!

ENTER STYLE sending (as in N6TR software) and
auto choosing CQ/S&P operating methods are the new
features of this program. You can set or quit this
option by pressing "Ctrl+Ins". Chosen style
(N6TR or K1EA) is indicated in the right low corner
of the screen.
In "ENTER sending style" the operating methods
may be set automatically or you may choose needed
method by pressing F11 or Alt+C (CQ or S&P),
that is also indicated there.

'Texts.lst' is the list of CW messages
sent by F1 .. F10, "Ins", "+", "-" and "\" Keys.
You may change any message following the lines
format after pressing Alt+T or in this file.
Symbols: $ means Your own callsign,
@ means station in QSO window,
             # means Your sending number.
Use symbols "+" and "-" to increase or
decrease CW sending speed for 4 WpM in any point
of CW message (by Alt+T or in the file itself).
Space in a message returns sending speed to
normal without using "-".

If no callsign is in QSO_window then You can
send again callsign logged before (by F5) and the
last (not new!) serial number (by F2).

Keyboard sender may by activated in CW mode
by "Alt+K". This mode allows to send English letters,
numbers and some other symbols such as "?", "/",
mistake sign (' or ") etc. Keyboard sending allows
also to send all the texts under F1 .. F10, "Ins",
"+" and "-" keys.
"Keyboard sending" style is indicated in the
right low part of the screen instead of "FuncKeys
Sending".
CW sending speed (WPM) is also indicated there.

Use Ctrl+Enter or F12 for logging QSO without
any sending in CW mode. Or use only ENTER in K1EA
style.

Sound sending (by Ctrl+S) allows You to try
all CW options without transmitting in the air.

In SSB computer is used for logging QSOs and
checking for duplicates, band/mode changes,
rates and results.

Rate window shows last 10 minutes rate (in QSOs/hour).

Your own exchange may be changed by Alt+Pg_Up
or Pg_Dwn for 1 (or by Alt+Ins for any new
exchange).

NEEDED MULT is dispalayed in the low right
part of the screen.

Previous QSOs edition (Alt+E) allows to use almost
all usual editional keys. But if Your log contains more
than 1000 QSOs then its rewriting lasts about some
seconds after finishing edition. Such occasion also
takes place when a large log is loaded (if You use old
types of computers).

If You need only logging program without sending
in CW mode - set Off ENTER-STYLE by pressing Ctrl+Enter
and use "Enter" and "Space". Another way is using F12
for logging QSO.

'EU_HF.exe' helps You to log Your QSOs after
finishing the Contest. Please, pay attention
to hours and minutes! There are some automatical
functions to correct Your possible mistakes.
For example, if after "14:58" You enter "02"
or "2" UTC becomes "15:02" (!!!).

Many thanks to Dan (S50U) for his useful advises
and suggestions.
Many sincere thanks to my friend RA1ARJ (Mike)
for his thorough testing this software.

I welcome all comments, advices and questions.
My sincere thanks to all the radioamateurs who
use this program for operating in "EUROPEAN HF
CHAMPIONSHIP".

Good luck and great satisfaction in
        "EUROPEAN HF CHAMPIONSHIP"!
