Roger Davies was performing a nightly ritual as sacred and important as his Sorting had been 15 years ago. It was nearly 11:00, but he was squatting by the front door of his house, head bent over something, a look of intense concentration upon his face.

"Clothing, check. Identification, check. Personal toiletries, check. Medical supplies, check. Portkey to St. Mungo's, check. Those strange Chinese snacks that Cho loves for no discernible reason, check..."

Slow footsteps sounded upon the upstairs corridor and a slightly drowsy female voice called out, "Roger, are you coming to bed?"

"Yes, just as soon as I finish checking The Suitcase." He called up the stairs. There came a soft, unladylike snort.

"Come off it, no one's touched the suitcase since you've checked it an hour ago. One would think that YOU were the one eight-and-a-half months pregnant, not me. Everything's fine, come and sleep."

"All right, I'm coming." Roger said distractedly as he finished the requisite Three Suitcase Checks that evening. Satisfied that everything was exactly where it was supposed to be, he walked up the stairs to see his wife standing on the top stair, long black hair loose and flowing down her back, clad in a thin blue nightgown. He frowned.

"Cho! Whatever are you doing out of bed? You could catch cold, or fall, or..." His words were cut off as she clapped one small hand over his mouth. She wrinkled her nose slightly before smiling at him.

"Roger, I love you dearly, but if you do not desist in treating me like I am some particularly delicate piece of crockery, I will be forced to take drastic measures."

Gradually, slowly, he calmed down somewhat. "I'm just concerned about you after all. You --- we've never done this before. And I don't want anything to go wrong..."

"I know." Cho leaned over slightly with effort and brushed her lips against his, "But everything will be all right. Shall we sleep?"

He nodded and smiled a small smile at her, and together they walked into their bedroom. After turning down the covers, he carefully helped her lie down in bed, before lying down next to her, fully dressed in everything but his robes. She rolled her eyes very slightly. He turned on his side, and put one large but gentle hand on her swollen belly.

"Sleep well, love."

"Sleep well." She closed her eyes and sank into slumber with a faint smile on her face.

Three hours later, Cho awoke with a start and tried to sit up, big brown eyes looking around, wondering what had torn her from her sleep. Then, she felt it. Wetness underneath her, followed by a wave of sharp pain. Grimacing, she shook the sleeping form next to her.

He was awake in an instant, his wand appearing seemingly from nowhere, "Lumos," he whispered, "Cho, is something wrong?"

"It's time..." she answered gently, biting her lips with the pain, "Now, Roger, please don't..."

"IT'S TIME?! OH MY GOODNESS, IT'S TIME!! COME ON CHO WE MUST GET YOU TO ST. MUNGO'S, THERE'S NOT A MOMENT TO LOSE!! IT'S TIME!! IT'S TIME!!" He gulped, and his eyes bulged out in his face like huge blue street lamps.

"...panic..." Cho finished in a disgruntled voice. "Help me up...?"

But her husband was muttering incoherently, staring at his wand, then at her. Cho recalled the advice that her Harpies teammate Angelina Johnson-Weasley had given her. Grabbing his wand from his hand, she called out, "Accio broomstick!"

A well-kept Firebolt V came zooming out of the closet, and she caught it securely in her hand. Raising it up high, she coolly and deliberately hit him over the head with it. Not hard enough to concuss him, but hard enough to bring him back to his senses.

A moment later, he seemed to snap out of it slightly. Holding out his arms to help her up, he carried her down the stairs, wincing every time she shook in pain with the contractions, babbling nonsensical apologies. Cho clenched her hands in pain, "Save them for when the time comes when I scream at you never to touch me again, all right?"

He nodded, obviously not comprehending a word of what she was saying, and at long last, they arrived at where the faithful Suitcase was standing. Cho flinched from another contraction, but managed to say lightly, "Goodness, whatever will you do if we ever had twins?"

His owl-eyed, frightened expression was the last thing she saw before the spinning started and the two of them were portkeyed to the hospital.
