"Prefect For Ravenclaw"
The owl dropped the post in the marmalade. Padma fished the letters out and handed one to her twin.
"My letter is heavier," Padma noted.
"You've probably been made prefect," Parvati said. Everyone knew Hermione Granger - not Parvati or Lavender - would be the prefect for Gryffindor. Parvati's hopes were for Padma.
Padma opened her letter. Inside were the standard school letter - and a prefect badge. She stared at the silver badge in shock.
"Who else was going to be picked?" Parvati scoffed. "Badge was meant for you."
Padma could not quite believe her twin, but she appreciated the sentiment.

"Unaccounted For"
Something strange was happening. Everyone was ordered back to their common rooms and Professor Flitwick instructed the Ravenclaw prefects to make certain everyone was accounted for.
"Only person we're missing is Lovegood," Padma noted scanning the roll.
"Probably off arguing with Sir Cadogan's portrait," someone sneered.
Padma and Anthony exchanged worried glances. They knew Luna well from D.A. meetings. While distinctly odd, Luna was far from foolish.
"I'll go tell Flitwick we're missing Lovegood," Padma said. Anthony nodded.
"That won't be necessary, Miss Patil," Flitwick announced from the common room entrance. "Miss Lovegood and the others have been accounted for."

"The Old-Fashioned Way"
Penelope Clearwater was sore and breathless by the time she managed to haul her trunk up the stairs. Her father had offered to carry it up, but Penelope insisted she could manage. After he left, she remembered she couldn't do magic over the holidays.
Penelope was too proud to call for help, so she grabbed the handle and started pulling the heavy trunk up manually. It was hard work. Penelope had become good at levitating things at school and it hadn't occurred to her to enchant her trunk feather light before leaving. She would have to remember that next year.
