Summery: Hitomi is an average girl at her high school except for the fact that she is depressed and wishes she could just fade away. Her dream finally comes true and she finds herself inside a giant robot that almost seems alive. When she falls out a man bows to her calling her the wing goddess. However, as soon as the robot, called Escaflowne, disappears the man, named Van turns hostile and demands she brings it back and accuses her of being a spy. However, another man, named Alan, appears to save her. After a nights rest she finds that the world she is in is very different. It isn't long till they find out who summoned her. He is the brother of Van who only desires to destroy the world. We then find out that Hitomi is the only one who can summon Escaflowne and her heart's desire determines weather it destroies the world or saves it. Will she decide to end the pain or can she find a reason to live?
Personal Comments: Escalowne the movie has a great idea going but it seems that they drag it on thowing in uneeded events and skipping necissary information. To make things worse, Hitomi is always asking stupid questions and is an all around annoying character. The other characters are splendid, however. To be honest I believe the series is much better becuase the series focuses mainly on Van more than Hitomi. In short if you wanna see Escaflowne at it's best and to it's true potential, see the series not the movie. As for music, the music is very good. Very powerful music is in this music but what can you expect from the guru of all anime music, Yoko Kanno, acompanied by Hajime Mizoguchi, whom I know nothing about but if they are working with Yoko Kanno, then they must be pretty good.
