| The Dark Ones are a group in the Paradox system who internally engage in extremely abusive sexual activities with one another. There are men, women, and children amongst them, although no one knows for sure how many there are. We feel most comfortable referring to them as fragments rather than alters, as their capacity for dealing with the outside world is assumed to be extremely limited (we assume because this has never been tested, nor will it ever). |
| The Dark Ones are without feeling for others. They revel in the thought of cruelty. Their desires are driven by rage and lust for power. They lend creative ideas about self-injury, suicide, assault, unsafe sex, and homocide to whomever in the Paradox is feeling vulnerable. They are anarchists, believing that they are beyond caring about rules. They have neither integrity nor respect for anything human. |
| It is extremely humiliating and frightening to the rest of us to even admit their presence within this system. However, we feel that the silence with which we have protected their existence has also given them far too much influence and power. We hope to break that silence and, in turn, break the power they are able to exert. |
| We believe that the Dark Ones are introjects of several perpetrators of sexual assaults we have endured. We believe that because the body/mind was so immature when these acts began, we needed a way to identify with the perpetrators in order to understand them (and make what they did okay). We believe that once we are strong enough to face the memories and name the names, we will no longer need the Dark Ones to remind us of the reasons for that horror. |
