Funny men Leo Martinez and GMA’s Pekto return to the big screen with their inimitable brand of irreverent humor via Lara Films Production’s pilot offering, "Law Law Gang: Umpisa Pa Lang ‘To."
The veteran actor believes the public has renewed interest in comedies as evidenced by comedy films and comedians winning major awards in the past year. Martinez pointed out that "Law Law Gang" benefits from being produced by newcomers who still have a fresh outlook on how to do films. He said that such independently produced movies allow filmmakers to be in their creative best since they are not bound to craft their work after trends and around the so-called star system, both of which major studios have relied on to sell their outputs.
The movie tells the story of thieves who reform their lives while in jail for petty crimes. Once out, Boy Babaero (Martinez), Boy Pormatic (Pekto), Boy Scarf (Hero Bautista), Boy Kupit (Brownie) and Boy Talentado (Vincent Daffalong) band to help the poor by defeating the enemies of society pro bono. In true Robin Hood fashion, they donate their loot to the baranggay for distribution among the poor.
