Problem

Fin Fungus

Appearance

Fins ragged with jelly at edge of ragged part.

Cause

Water change. This is not a disease.

Use FUNGUS GUARD.

Proper Action

Fin fungus is very rare when START RIGHT has been added in setting up the aquarium.

Fin Rot

Appearance

Fins eaten away with redness at base of bad area.

Cause

Saprolegnia fungus with Pseudomonas or Aeromonas bacteria.

Proper Action

Use FUNGUS ELIMINATOR or BINOX.

Can enter other aquariums by splashing water or using nets from infected aquarium. Clean nets with NET SOAK.

Notes

Problem

Flavo Bacteria

Fish swim aimlessly. May have spasms.

Appearance

Cause

Internal bacteria.

Proper Action

Use INTERNAL PARASITE GUARD or BINOX with PEPSO FOOD.

Can enter other aquariums by splashing water or using nets from infected aquarium. Clean nets with NET SOAK

Problem

Flesh Worms

Appearance

Small lumps under skin or on fins.

Cause

Parasitic worms.

Proper Action

Use BINOX or FUNGUS ELIMINATOR. Use GOLD FIX on goldfish.

Notes

Will not spread indoors.

Problem

Fungus (white)

Appearance

A white cottony growth on any part of the fish.

A bacteria, Flaxobacter (Chondrococcus)  Columnaris.

Cause

Proper Action

Use FUNGUS GUARD or FUNGUS ELIMINATOR. Use GOLD FIX on goldfish.

Can enter other aquariums by splashing water or using nets from infected aquarium. Clean nets with NET SOAK

Fungus (grey)

Appearance

A light grey cottony growth on any part of the fish.

Cause

A parasitic fungus, Saprolegnia.

Proper Action

Use FUNGUS GUARD with ICK GUARD
