French Classroom Expectations 2008-2009 - Mme Lyon
Getting to the classroom:
Be in class on time, and bring all necessary items with you.
Students coming late will be marked Tardy. After several Tardies,
parents and AP’s will be notified. After an unexcused absence,
parents will be contacted, then guidance, then the A.P.’s, and student
may be dropped from class.
Go to the bathroom before coming to class. If you do need to go
during class, please have your planner ready for me to sign so you do
not disrupt the class.
In the classroom:
Be on task and follow directions the first time given.
If you socialize too much you will be moved to a different desk.
Have respect for you teacher, your classmates, and the things in the
classroom. No name-calling, teasing, or swearing. (See board policy
i.e. harassment.)
When class starts remove your earphones and turn off your MP3. (p.36)
Parents of students who are causing problems will be notified, and if
there is no improvement, students will be sent to the AP’s office.
Dress modestly (see planner p. 36)
Food and drinks—Water is the only beverage allowed in the
classroom. Food is not allowed.
Please have your telephone turned OFF during French class. See
Planner p. 33 for consequences for using your phone in class.
Games: The French classroom has many cultural games that will be
the only ones played in the classroom.
Homework:
Students are expected to complete homework on time to get credit.
If you missed class legitimately, you will have as many days as you
missed to turn in late work. (see Planner p. 19&20)
Make-up work: if you are absent, it is your responsibility to get
your assignments from either your classmates or me. Ask me for
handouts you may have missed. Homework is posted everyday at
http://new.schoolnotes.com, enter zip code 52002 and click on Madame
Lyon. (Planner p.20). You can email me at [email protected]
or call me in the classroom after 2:20 at 552-5390. If you are
leaving school early before my class, stop by to know what you need to
do so you do not fall behind. If you can’t see me before you
leave, see me before first hour the day you come back so I can give you
handouts and tell you what we did, it will save time during the class.
Students are expected to do their OWN schoolwork. Cheating by
looking at another student’s schoolwork, copying other’s work, copying
from other sources such as the Internet, using Internet translators to
turn in graded assignments, or similar cheating will not be
tolerated. If caught you will receive a 0 on the
assignment. You will not be able to get any credit points.
Your parents will be notified, and the incident will be documented for
further reference such as for ranking students for National Honors
Society. Cheating on a test or an assignment may result in the loss of
class credit and a failing grade. (Planner p.18) Each
incident will be dealt with individually.
You can check your grade at any time on the Internet. I enter
grades daily.
A Citizenship grade will be given several times during the year.
(Planner p. 18) Citizenship grades apply to conduct in the
specific class for which the mark is given.
1=excellence in both conduct and attitude
2=very good, or above average
3=average, could improve
4=low, should improve
5=poor, must improve.
If you are falling behind in class, I will talk to you personally to
see how you can get back on track. Please talk to me if you need
help. I am available before and after school, and during 3rd hour in
the World Language Learning Center and during 4th Hour in the World
