Heroes

DARNA

By far my Darna images outnumber all other images (heroes and villains combined). What's shown here are various takes on Darna - versions and all - stemming from various "what if" scenarios in my mind.

Groovin Darna

(an old darna drawing I made. kinda 80s-looking, with the background being a dark alley.)

Playful Darna

(she was supposed to have that, sneaky, tiptoe look. but then...)

Afro/ Aeta Darna

(Darna of zee big hair. lol)

Pacific Islander Darna (my first Darna creation ever. this is the drawing that started it all)

Naomi Campbel Darna

(the text background's actually just a play of the lines, "Ding, ang bato!")

Dance Floor Darna

(my first Darna in jeans image)

Anime/Maui Taylor Darna

(kahawig kasi ni Mau Taylor e. with gypsy earings)

Aged/Katutubo Darna

(an old, tribal-looking Darna, with a whatever background)

Justice League-Inspired Darna

(originally for a plan to do a Justice League, Philippine version. but then, I dun draw male figures that well so...)

Darna in Philippine Colors/ Roy Liechtenstein-Inspired

(simple Darna with the Philippine quadricolor)

Chinese Darna

(with a Mao, communist twist. The characters on the sideare "just" and "woman". methinks)

Darna of the Cosmos

(this one was inspired by the character Big Bad [?] Barda, which made an appearance as a member of the League of Justice, in a spectacular Batman Beyond episode)

Fantasy Showcase Darna

(the costume's partially inspired by the outfit of the Sailor Stars, from the anime series Sailor Moon)

Shadow Darna/ Darna de Noche

(a darker Darna. the wings were for that planet Marte feel [dunno.] she actually is reminiscent of a She-Ra character, Catra)

Cutesy Anime Darna

(the colors - more than the style - was inspired by the art in those Japanese childrens books I had when I was a child [particulalry, Gulliver's Travels])

Beyonce Knowles Darna

(inspired by her Pepsi gladiator advertisement, as well as her stint in that Austin Powers flick, Goldmember)

"D" Darna

(Darna and the letter d. dunno what else to call it)

Art Nouveau/ Flapper Darna

(this by far is the most un-Darna-looking creation. it was created during my art nouveau obsession phase)

Side Poster Darna

(this was inspired by the Darna comic, though the art don't look like it.)

Egyptian Darna

(Darna in the land of ancient myths)

Darna Meets Adarna

(a play in names. the Adarna bird's kinda phoenix-y)

Dyke (Lesbo) Darna/ Darna in Amsterdam

(what if Darna were in jeans? and had a predilection for women. hehe)

Cheerleader Darna

(kinda inspired by Linda Carter as Wonder Woman, and by those Ivy League banners pinned on the walls of them guy dorms)

Darna Rocks

(well, its supposed to be more angsty, but I dint have the drive to pursue that any further. She was actually based on Courtney Love)

Cryogenic Darna

(dahil tinamad na ko mag-shade. hehe. inspired by the "people of krypton" look in the christopher reeves superman movie)

Darna Sketch

(just a sketch)

Anime Darna

(A Power-Puffy, Astro Boy-legged rendition of that fave heroine)

          Darna Poster Creations (with Villains)

Darna and the Black Mercury Woman

(a fresher [?] and more techie approach to a Darna poster)

Darna at ang Babaeng Lawin

(nuther Darna poster, most recent Darna creation. The Babaeng Lawin's supposed to be just a shadow, but the creative process got in the way...)

DYESEBEL

Aquakinetic Dyesebel

(Dyesebel controlling water using her magical shell pendant. An old dyesebel drawin)

Dyesebel Pose

(Dyesebel with a combat bra)

GALEMA

Biker Galema

(Galema with a tougher leather look)

Showdown Galema

(Galema in a "showdown" pose. And a summer getup)

BLUSANG ITIM

Balatkayo Blusa

(the background letters are a play on the word "balatkayo")

Elven Blusa

(a dark elfin look. The characters mean "dark" and "woman", or something)

Goth Blusa

(the Blusa Showing its darker side)

FAYE (OK KA FAIRY KO)

Faye: Teen Encantada

(a hipper, less-prissy rendition of that OK Ka Fairy Ko star)

Faye: Encantada in Lake

(Faye before taking a bath in the lake)

MARIPOSA (SOME CHRISTINA GONZALES B-MOVIE STARRER)

Mariposa Pose

(a British Union Jack-looking cape, and a flight-look demo background)

Mariposa in Flight

(old drawing, tinamad na ko shading and layout. hehe)

PHANTOM LADY

Urban Phantom Lady

(a more modern take on her character. the mask in the movie was Zorro-ish, but I figured a full-face mask gives a colder character.)

Villains

Valentina: Undress

(an old drawing of Darna nemesis, Valentina. Anime-ish)

Cherie Gil Valentina

(an homage to the Cherie Gil Valentina, with an urban decay theme)

Babaeng Tuod: Tree Lady

(an old drawing, with my old style of shading )

Moita: Evil Fairy

(I tried making her look like Tetchi Agbayani, but failed somewhere along the way. She kinda looks like a thinner version of Bituin Escalante)

Babaeng Lawin With Torch

(the torch-weapon idea came from the fact that in the old comic, she used to burn the roofs of the village houses she attacks)

Babaeng Lawin: Techie Goth Chick

(a teen Armida, with a predilection for the dark and metallic)

Undin: Water Villain

(a comic-y take on a shake rattle and roll character)

Nievez: Mistress of Snow

(Ice Queen)

Ate Guy Tala

(the look - face - is inspired by fave dramatic vehicle Nora Aunor, pero for the sake of variety, I changed the position of the mole)

Idlip

(she's actually inspired by a Hans Christian Anderssen character I remember reading in them stories as a child: Old Shut-Eye, bringer of dreams)

Other Characters

Super Inday Poster

(an homage to a Maricel Soriano classic starrer)

Youthful Panday

(this Panday's rather David-y, in that the extremities are a bit large for the body. and, my ineptitude for drawing male figures comes off as very stark here. besides, its an old drawing)

Kokak as Heroine

(a Marvel-y approach to that Rachel Lobangco starrer)

Cyber Inday sa Balitaw

(a techie take on that Maria Classic)

Taong Bulalakaw

(enemy of Tala, intergalactic guardians..)

 Principe K

Modern Captain Barbel

(a darker, vainer, err, thinner approach to that Mars Ravelo character)
