Mirrah the Red Eared Slider's Homepage!!

[Mirrah at one and a half years old sunning on his favorite rock, in his 33 gallon tank]

AUG.26.01
Mirrah has grown a great deal since last I wrote. He eats a mix of Zoo med, T-rex (for auquatic turtles), shrimp, turtle pellets, mealworms and as a treat such things as lettuce, krill and other things.
Mirrah still enjoys all the same turtle things as he always has. Sometimes he likes to play with the water pump and knocks it off the side of the tank.....
When his tank is being cleaned out Mirrah somtiems stays in a rabbit cage for a while basking in the sunlight from the balcony and munching on lettuce. The Sun is very important for most reptiels digestiong since the don't regulate thier own body heat.
It's very important to remeber when getting any type of turtle to make sure you have a proper tank set-up for them and enough time to look after thier many needs.
Mirrah has a special UV light for morning and night, a water pump/filter, a water heater, large rock to bask on after meals, a well balanced diet, several turtle products for cleaning both his tank and his shell to keep him health.....
Sometimes allgie will build up on Mirrah shell and needs to be cleaned off and his shell treated with some special products to help keep it hard. When he was a very young turtle he got soft shell, since then Danielle is always very careful to keep him shell in good shape and make sure it's cleaned when it get too much build up on it. It's also important to keep his tank clean, this helps his over all health as well as his shells. Temperature is very important when your a turtule!

Mirrah is getting closer to being 4 years old! He was being very selective about his foods and wasn't eating much but mealworms (not a balanced diet!) We were worried about him but after looking around and talk to the vet, I would a food made by ZOO MED which is a very good blanced diet for aquatic turtles and Mirrah LOVES it!! HE also got some dried crickets which he was not as fond off but did enjoy. So now he's on the right track with food and treats. He's very large now (bigger then in the image) and his tank has been re-arranged for more space, he does in the bath tube and on the balcony when it's warm (in a large cage with plastic bottom and wire top so he can't wonder off, half is overed so he had shade and sun and he never left alone). He's a happy turtle, and is often seen corting his reflection, still no luck with a female friend but he's happy!.

We bought her Mirrah as a gift because she loved Turtles so much [of course we made sure she wanted a turtle first!!]. Danielle now has a 33 gallon tank for Mirrah [you can see some of it in the image]. (April 1998) Red-eraed Silders can live to be up to 50+ year old!! (WOW) and make very nice pets when properly looked after, they do however need lots of care.
Danielle is also contenplating getting a few other turtles of other spieces, once she moves [which isn't in the near future at this point, she is studing for her master in Theology] . She is very interested in hearing about other people turtles :). Danielle's really fallen more in love with turtles and her collection of turtle figures [clay, wood, glass lamp, etc.] has grown!! Mirrah loves to take sun baths and her favorite food is Mealworms [just like Cesi].
Mirrah is a very fasinating turtle, you wouldn't belive all the things he does!! He loves to swim around his tank. He gets treatment for "soft shell" which he unfotunitaly had a problem with at a young age, and hates that, he "hisses" at Danielle!!

Danielle is very interested in finding other people with turtles to corispond with if you are interested in turtles, or know of a club she would be able to join please E-mail Thanks
