| Reasons Why People Home Educate Are Usually Based on the Negative Inpact of Schools and the Benefits of Home Education. The Negative Impact of school *Institutional, factory setting, with a curriculum set in place because the teacher must teach the same thing to 30 children in a class. *Seperation from the parent/care giver. Children are also attending school younger than ever. In the UK, children start school as young as 4, wheras in Europe and other countries, children start at 6 or 7. *Parents seen as trouble for 'interferring' if they show an interest *The child is pushed into reading and writing at a very young age to meet the needs of the teacher, and this can lead to low self esteem and failure. *The child may not get the assistance they need. *Teaching is based on standards, not the individual. *Children learn undesirable social skills and behaviour from peers and lack role models and mentors. *The authoritarian approach from school staff. *Children may be treated in a way we would not want to condone or be treated ourselves from peers and staff. * Children may lack emotional support. *Peer rejection. *Bullying from peers and staff. *Violence becoming common in schools. *The needs of children with disabilities/special needs not always met appropriately. *Children may manage but not have the opportunity to excel. *Focus on teaching, instead of learning.
