 Details of AbductionOn 6/1/97 Shannon left paternal grandparent's home in Kent Co. MI, where she had been living, to visit her mother, Rachel Timmerman.On 6/3/97 Rachel and Shannon left their Kent Co. home in the company of an unknown man (possible John Weeks, an associate of Marvin Gabrion, who is also missing and presumed dead). They were to return in a few hours. On 6/4/97 a letter arrived, supposedly from Rachel, saying that she had eloped and would return in two weeks. Since Rachel was due to testify on 6/6/97 against Marvin Gabrion in a rape case from Aug. 1996 the family thought she had second thoughts about going forward with rape charges. No one, except Mr. Gabrion , knew that the court date had been changed. Two weeks later two more letters arrived again supposedly from Rachel. One to her family saying she was living in Little Rock, AR. The other to the Newaygo Co. prosecutor stating that she wanted to drop the charges against Mr. Gabrion. On 7/5/97 Rachel's body was found in a Newaygo Co. lake. She had been dead a month. She had never left the area. Rachel was seen alive in Newaygo Co. as late as 6/5/97. Shannon was never seen after she left Rachel's home on 6/3/97. Associates of Mr. Gabrion, who were known to baby-sit for Shannon, left Newaygo Co. on an unplanned two week trip on 6/5/97. It is not known where they went. They have refused to be interviewed by police. It is suspected Shannon my be in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas or Alabama, but she could be anywhere. In October 1997, Mr. Gabrion was apprehended in Sherman, NY, where he was using the alias Robert Allen. Mr. Gabrion had been cashing Robert Allen's Social Security checks. Mr. Allenis missing and presumed dead. Mr. Gabrion is now serving a 5 year sentence for SS Fraud. He has not yet been charged with Rachel's murder. There is nothing linking Mr Gabrion to Shannon's disappearance so he will probably never be charged with Shannon's abduction. Also since the three missing men have never been found, Mr Gabrion will probably never face charges in those cases either.
