Time Team uncover Athelney Abbey
The village of Lyng welcomed the Channel 4 team of archeologists to the Isle of Athelney. Tim Morgan, from Athelney Farm, kindly allowed everyone on his farm, and English Heritage gave permission for the dig to commence. Bob Croft from Somerset Archeology was on hand to ensure all was recorded.
We will leave Time Team to tell the story of Alfred and Athelney, but with the village of Lyng turning out in force as pot washers, we couldn't miss the opportunity to show you just some of the pictures.
