  Old Time Music Hall Evening

Saturday 26th February saw Lyng Village Hall turned into a scene from 'The Good Old Days' T.V. programme.

Mr Clifton-Jones kept order throughout the proceedings (under the watchful eye of his good wife Alison) with his large vocabulary of  sesquipedalian provincialisms (long words).

Our star guest Mr Geoff Treasure tinkled the ivory's with such gusto that all present felt compelled to sing all to all the tunes we all knew so well, such as 'My Old Man' and 'Down at the old Bull & Bush'.

A rousing rendition of 'Knees up Mother Brown' was sung and danced to by "Misses" Lyn Willis and Lynn Miller at various times during the evening.

Mrs Jennifer Jones displayed her skills with the spoons and Mrs Sue Dare challenged us to a short quiz about music hall & the era.

Mr Clifton Jones & Mrs Miller attempted to entertain the audience with some amusing jokes although from the groans & boo's that came from the audience the turn of the century jokes had not travelled well

The fare was excellent and thanks were given during the evening to the members of the Village Hall Committee who slaved over hot stoves to produce excellent fare which was appreciated by all present.

The evening was brought to a close by Mr Treasure playing one last chorus of 'The old Bull & Bush' then the traditional 'God save the Queen'.

Hot off the press's are the first pictures of the evening, with more to follow.  If you couldn't make it to this evening make a note in your diary for our next themed evening which will take place in November.
