RIVERSIDE

The new fish Quay in Sunderland

Used to be able to buy fresh fish, crabs etc; straight from the fishermen, but was stopped several years ago in relation with health and hygiene regulations. a new co-operative in door shop was built to serve this purpose, but even that has had its problems.

A view taken from North Hylton looking towards the city

A famous picture of the Hylton ferry, how South Hylton looked a long time ago.

South Hylton as it is now, with the Golden Lion pub in the background.  Often  a good start (or finish) for a good walk along the riverside to Fatfield.

A view of South Hylton, with the golden lion pub in the foreground. Just showing is the Hylton bridge, built in the 70's, which takes the A19 over the River Wear.
