Lebanon can't accept these discriminatory terms.

End of UN resolution supposed to solve the problem for all time!

From AFP:

DUBAI, Aug 11, 2006 (AFP) - French and US proposals for a UN resolution are unsatisfactory because they do not provide for an immediate ceasefire to end the conflict in Lebanon, the country's foreign minister said Thursday.

Meetings are now underway to resolve differences between the two sides ... (But) neither draft meets Lebanese aspirations, especially since they concur on not stipulating an immediate  ceasefire," he said.

A ceasefire would instead "come in stages," he said, adding that  the drafts were also "vague" on Lebanon's demand for the withdrawal  of Israeli forces from the Shebaa Farms region, claimed by Lebanon...

... there was "discrimination" even in the issue of  prisoners which sparked the Israeli offensive.

Under the proposed drafts, the two Israeli soldiers captured by Hezbollah would have to be freed, whereas "the issue of the Lebanese prisoners should (merely) be dealt with quickly," he said.
