When you hear of the legend V.L.A. you automatically assume that he's American , but guess again, he's another one of our home grown Canadian stars. His real name is Vince Vella. He's currently under the "Captain Records" label. V.L.A. took a chance and chose to release a Bass-heavy, slow jam entitled "We Won't Let Each Other Go" for his first release. Many critics may say, " Why release a ballad first instead of a fast track? " The answer is simple , V.L.A. is different from all the other artists and chooses to be leader not a follower. He wanted to do something different as an artist launching his career in 1994.
V.L.A.'s second single "I Gave My Heart" was released on a titled "Freestyle Is Alive In 95". With its progressive feel, this track hit #1 status in major hot spots like San Jose, Dallas, Detroit,Chicago, New Jersey, Philadelphia and El Paso. It also lead to the opportunity of becoming the first ever Canadian Freestyle artist on the front cover of D.M.A. Magazine in November of 1996. His third release "Sweet Lil' Lady Rockin Your Body" was released under his original stage name "Vincent V'.
Currently V.L.A. is working on his fourth release and it's packed with the Freestyle beats. He's been in the industry when Freestyle was at its peak, and was inspired by the both Noel and Stevie B. V.L.A. is a great contributor to the Toronto Freestyle scene, and is one of the people who started this incredible scene. |
