| Toronto is really becoming a hot bed of outstanding musical talent, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Meet Freda a beautiful, feisty and energetic young lady. Freda was bitten by the performing bug at age 6, when growing feelings of jealousy over her brother taking piano lessons drove her to take flute and vocal lessons a few years later. By 14, she added songwriter to her title and now has a growing catalogue of over 350 song lyrics and over half of them are complete with catchy melodies. Many of Freda's songs have been release on different Canadian Compilations.
The songstress has focused her career mainly in Toronto's local dance music community. A frequent performer in Toronto and Montreal's dance clubs, she is well known for giving of her time to numerous fundraising events. Among her achievements is an opening gig for Italian Europop sensation and Columbia Recording Artist Alexia. Freda also performed both National Anthems at the Toronto Raptors game against Denver with over 18,000 in attendance (02/08/2001). Freda's career is red hot right now her single "Dreaming of Tonite" has reached #1 for it's 8th week in a row in the freestyle charts and is up 2 spots to #18 in the Top 40 Charts (05/27/2001).
Freda is working on a CD release and as stated above you can find her music on many Canadian Compilations. A prolific writer there's tons of songs to satisfy the fans and a favorite track amongst many is something called "Fire in the Sky." A bright and energetic song it has a Euro Dance feel to it and a really strong Madonna vibe happening. Freda's vocals on this track are clear and rich the music is vibrant and encourages you to get up and have a good time. Another fun track is called "Catch My Fall" again Freda's rich vocals wrap around a fun and dancy musical backdrop. Perfect listening for this time of year is freestyle jam "Summer Love" this again pleasantly reminds me of Madonna's earlier style. Starting off on a mellow note "A World For You & Me" kicks it up with a bouncy dance beat, I can see how this would be a favorite in the dance clubs, it's extremely catchy. Ending our look at this multi talented artist is a track called "Strength". Freda's soulful delivery of this beautiful ballad makes it truly memorable. Freda says of this particular number, "I've always pictured this song as a song for the 'Olympics'.... My dream is to perform it at the 2004 Olympics in Greece..."
