Sunrise
Sunrise, the birth of day, the wonder of the world. Morning, a remarkable moment, that wakens the earth, That pierces the air with warmth and hope. Without a sunrise there would be no life, but darkness unended. So savor that moment, savor your sight, For right then you are experiencing all life. |

Hope
Hope is not easily avoided, Yet it is not forthcoming either. For to find hope, You must reach into your heart, your deepest dreams, Your most inner thoughts. But only then, you will realize, Hope is not given to you, It is you who gives it to yourself. |

I AmA Poem for Esperanza
I am a dreamer and a hoper.
I wonder if I can understand that not everything is perfect in life.
I hear the gentle swish of the morning breeze, giving a soft
welcome to early risers.
I see riches all around me, shining like a silver moon smiling on a mountain pond.
I want to believe that everything will stay the same.
I am a dreamer and a hoper.
I pretend that my life is still wonderful, rich, and clean instead of painful, dirty, and unhealthy.
I feel as if a tsunami had swept me away from a paradise island to a remote swamp, green, unfriendly, and dead.
I touch my hands and realize that my life has dramatically changed.
I cry of the past that stings a welt in my heart like a nettle.
I am a dreamer and a hoper.
I understand that like me, the most beautiful rose can bring happiness, but also has thorns that bring pain and sorrow.
I say to myself words of encouragement and to keep going on.
I dream that I am home in Mexico, still a queen and without sorrow.
I try to be the best I can and to work hard and to be myself.
I am a dreamer and a hoper. |
