North Middle School Mural Project
What Does AIR Do?

AIR is a Colorado Springs group bringing together students, artists, neighbors and businesses to help young people develop work skills, creativity, leadership and community while tranforming their learning environment.

Publicolor, a $2.1 million dollar non-profit in New York, reports that bringing color and student art projects into schools increases student pride, creates a greater sense of belonging and reduces violence.
A pilot project of
Artists in Residence (AIR)
The mural includes "Hello" in many languages.
"I want to thank you for this mural project. I've seen a big change in my son since he's become part of your program.

I'm very sorry it has come to an end because I know it would be very good for him to continue to work with you."
A thread of images and quotes starts at the North Middle School entrance stairway and flows up to the second floor with student selected themes from education, activities, global learning and imagination.
One of our talented young students envisioned a flying dragon to greet students as they make their way up the stairs. His colorful creation sweeps around the corner and fills the back side of the stair wall.
Color brightens our mood, creates warmth and excitement, and energizes the learning environment.
