Yanzi - Stephanie(Released in October 2004)
Ratings: ***3
Yanzi is back with a long -awaited album with 12 brand new songs after a one-year break. Recommended tracks:-
1)Opening track 1 is a fast pace track like one of those F.I.R songs. In one part of the song, Yanzi even try rapping.
2)Of course the song that catches my attention is track 3 - "Zhu Ni Kai Xin" (Wish U Happiness). It is a rockish number with guitar strumming all the way.
3)Next, one thing u can always expect from Yanzi is good ballads. Track 4 - "Wo Ye Hen Xiang Ta" (I Miss Him Too) is a beautiful piece of ballad.
Overall, I believe Yanzi can do better than this.
Yanzi - The Moment (Released in August 2003)
Ratings: ****4
Yanzi's first compilation album with 5 new songs. I am not going to comment anything on the previous hits. So, let's concentrate on the 5 new songs.
Catching my attention is her voice in "Meeting" (a theme song for "Turn Left, Turn Right"), which nearly melt my heart into romantic flames.
Next is "Not Bother to Care", a cheerful folk + pop + rock track. Following up with the same carefree & sunny upbeat tempo is "Under the Sun". Whereas, "The Moment" starts off with a sad memorable piano tune which could easily be translated into Yanzi's intention of a one-year break.
Personally, I support her move because I do not believe she should continue churning 2 to 3 albums in a year. I prefer her to do 1 album a year. This will certainly give her ample time to compose and choose the best songs for her next album and also to focus on the direction she wants to go and what she wants in her music.
Yanzi - To Be Continued (2003)

Yanzi 's 6th album release marks her venture into different grounds of cultural music. First track "Shen Qi" sounds very much like world music with the influence of Indian musical instruments and singing style. My favourite song in this album is "Wo Bu Nan Guo" (I'm Not Sad), which further discards any doubts you may have on her vocals as the queen of love ballads. Outstanding tracks in this album included "Yong Yuan" (Forever) and "Liao Jie" (To Understand). Some might like her duet song "My story, your song.." with a Japanese singer. But it didn't seem to appeal to me. On the whole, this album is a "continuation" of "what is left over" in the "Leave" album. It's barely a year from her previous album "Leave". Combining the 4 heavyweights in this album plus 3 heavyweights from her "Leave" album would certainly make a good album if she had only released one album instead of two. However, we need to think, is the company going to let her off with only 1 album in one year?
Yanzi - Leave (2002)

As usual, there are only 2 things I look for when I listen to Yanzi. First, her distinctive vocals. Second, her emotions in her singing. "Dong Shi" is my favorite track here. It proves that Yanzi can sing rock music just as good as Shino. In future, hopefully we can get more rock songs in her album. "Yi Yang De Xia Tian" is a soft guitar-ridden song that u can enjoy while u are having a drink in your favorite pub. "Bu Tong" is more of a happy sing -along song. One thing worth mentioning is 3 of these songs have an interesting intro. Luv it!
