Zhang Jue Long - 1st Album
Ratings: ****4
His music is so good that I wonder why he has yet to venture out into Taiwan and HK. Any reason??????? Penny Tai, Z-Chen, Guang Lian & Ping Guang are all there. What are u waiting for, Zhang Jue Long???
He makes me wonder one thing. Jay Chou is famours. David Tao is famous. Wang Li Hom is famous. Why not Jue Long?? I can't understand the logic. This guy also composes his own songs!!!!!!! And his songs are just as good if not better. If u wanna compare looks (this certainly not my criteria of listening to music, but a portion of the market do). He may not be handsome. However, he certainly is not worse than David Tao or Jay Chou. So if it is not his looks or his songs, what it could be?? I certainly don't have the answer. All I know is he is a talented composer. What a waste to ignore this artiste!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favourite song is Track 1, a beautiful piano-driven song. Besides, it is also a one-take live recording. Brilliant!!! A superb competitor to Danny One's "Jin Yan".
My second favourite song is Track 10 - "Jia Ru Ni She Wo De" (If U Were Mine).Part of the lyrics reads, "I was afraid I would disturb u. I was more afraid that u would fear of me. If u were mine, i would certainly love u more than him. If u were mine, I would certainly give u the best."
Track 11 - "Mei Meng" (Beautiful Dream) is an outstanding ballad. It has a splendid infectious melody as an intro.
BOB is another of my favourite. It could have easily be mistaken as a sequel to Jay Chou's "Ke Ai Nu Ren".
"Track 2 "Shen Shun" (Fortune Teller) sounds a bit like Kelly Minoque techno. There's a hilarious part whereby the singer asks the fortune teller," My name ok nor not?, My house's fengshui ok or not?, My bed's position can or not? Where is my fortune?".
Track 8 "Wo Duo Me, Duo Me, Duo Me?" is another mature composition. It gives u a feel of Coldplay plus Radio Head. This is another one-take live recording song in this album.
Track 7 "Ke Kou De Ge" is a melacholy and happy song. Am I contradicting myself?? Yes, take a listen to the song and u will know what I mean. Highlight of the song is the sound of shower and flushing in the toilet.
Closing the curtains is Track 13 "Soul Out", a new-age song. It gives u an impression of some kind of Egyption music where there's a girl screaming out!!!!!!! Very eerie music indeed.
Overall, there's a variety of music genre in this album. Basically pop, R&B, new age and ballad. Surely a recomended album.
