| hey thanks for your messages. It's nearly 2am now (just watched the Matrix Reloaded and the cinema was PACKED) so will come back and post a proper reply tmmw. Bye! |
| 2003-05-18 03:52 am, GMT+08:00 |
I like Matrix a lot. It is one of my favourite movies, because it has the feel of a fusion of "Asian Kung-fu" and Western special effects. Especially the fighting scenes btw Mopheus and Neo during one of their training sessions. All the slow motions are so cool and beautifully done. I have not yet watched Matrix Reloaded. So, what is your opinion on Matrix Reloaded?? Maybe u can post it at my forum website your opinion and let's see anybody will give their feedback. The forum address is: http://lymwk.myforum.net/ Gotta go. |

| I bought SaiWing's EP from HK, I have no idea how easy/hard his EP is to find now, but if you really can't find it and run into strife drop me an email at [email protected], I don't mind sending samples out to people if they can't find the albums, but of course if you can find the album it' smuch better fo ryou to buy it (support our artists if you can) I send out lots of samples of stuff to people for them to try new music or for music they can't find. SaiWing's solo work is not really my style because it's too much of a fusion of techno, disco, rock, pop, electric, everything, I don't know, seems like he's tried to create sophisticated music, but I feel that it's missing the heart. Maybe I shouldn't judge it too harshly though, I've probably played the cd less than 5 times, so maybe it get's better. I just feel really sorry for him as a person though, I mean to lose Ka Kui, to Lose Beyond, to lose the love of your life (AND get accused of murdering her) it's all a bit much too much sadness in his life. he seems like such a lovely guy (plus a long time ago I had a crush on him because he looked really good with long hair) there's a reallly old Beyond concert where SaiWing plays the "drums" on his body, it was kind of funny, kind of cute. As far as drummers go, SaiWing has gotta be up there (Davy Chan and the drummer for Overload has gotta be pretty damn close if not as good)The previous 5th member of Beyond Yuen Zai, is pretty awesome too, his work is great. |
| 2003-05-18 03:49 am, GMT+08:00 |
This is something new to me. The fifth member! I always thought there was only 4 of them. Thanx. |

| Hi... Cheri. I went to shop
for sai wing's solo album but to no avail... funny. Where do u get
it? Hmmm... Beyond's latest album only have 4 songs in it. Only the 1 song is new to me. The rest is their old songs modified and sing by 3 of them. Any news that they will release a new album? |
| 2003-05-16 11:57 pm, GMT+08:00 |
Steven, maybe u can go to my forum site to facilitate forum conversations with Cheri.. The website address is: http://lymwk.myforum.net/ I think the forum should be able to post a message back to anyone who responds to the your topic regarding BEYOND latest albums and developments. U could be getting some feedback from posting your message there, I guess. Try using it! |

| Hi... Cheri... i bought Steve's latest album GIG too. I really like his new songs especially the first song tittled 'Declare War'... (if i got it rite) It is like an EP album too me. Just have only 4 new songs... Did i got it rite... you mentioned that Beyond has just released their new EP album? Gonna rush to CD shop tomorrow to check it out. If I'm not mistaken it hasn't been released yet at S'pore... :( By the way... where are u from cheri? Well... thanks for ur up-date regarding Sai Wing's solo album too. I try to get it tomorrow... hopefully it is out in the store. Just to share with u all... Among their solo released... i think paul's music is slightly impressive from the rest to me so far. It got the 'umph'.. that special and unique style of music in it. What do u think? Hei...lymwk... u can try out Shin group too... not bad too. It's a rock group. Quite popular nowadays... Check it out. |
| 2003-05-15 06:56 am, GMT+08:00 |
Shin?? I am not banking my hopes on Shin. Please, take note that I am not saying, they are bad. I have heard of their music before. It's just that their type of rock is not my taste. I would rather bank my hopes on "Aadia" and "Xiao An" (both from Taiwan). I have yet to listen to their albums. But, I anticipate it to be good albums. They got a few cool rock songs in their MTVs broadcasted by Astro. And I have searched for their albums in the music stores. Cannot get it. Surprise, surprise! Can u believe it, huh?? |

| Hey, great to seee another fan out there! Yes of course I have Steve's BE RIGHT BACK, I also have his next one GIG, but although I recognise the music is not bad at all, it's not really the kind of music I gret really passionate about. Likewise with SaiWing's solo release. Paul's PLAY IT LOUD is soemthing else all together! IT REALLY REALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!! I lov eit when Paul works with LMF, because LMF influence makes the songs more "moshable" and Paul's influence makes the music more beautiful..if you can call a rock song beautiful..The only thing about Play it LOud is that it doesn't have a reallllly beautiful slow piece in it like in his previous solo's like the son g"Lei hoi Ngo ba (leave me)" I think if he did have a track like that in the album it would have completed the album. I believe after their 20th anniversary (which I sadly missed because 1. not enough money to fly to HK, and 2. SARS)they have now released an EP, but I haven't been into chinatown to get it yet. I think I have nearly all their songs! Well at least I have like 6 or 7 or something different versions of "Good Bye Ideals" (My favourite rock song of all times) Only problem is some of them are on really old tapes. So if you are missing any of their stuff that you would desperately like to try and get, you can contact me and I'll see if I have it. Anyway...keep right on rocking!!!!! |

Steven, at last, u have someone backing u. So, BEYOND just had a concert in HK. Any news that they will be in Singapore or Malaysia as well? Ok, back to music. It is a well know fact that there are many people who love music and who have talent, but are not lucky enough to be signed up by one of those so-called BIG recording companies to be an artist. And there are those who do not sing, but are lucky enough to be out with an album. To be fair to the former group, I would like to recommend some good DIY stuff to all ROCK music lovers out there. On top of my list is "Anesthetized" from Malaysia. His website is: http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/anesthetized/ My recommended songs of his are "I wanna be in a band" (it rocks like hell!) and song "Joke and entertainment". Another recommendation is "Cubicbottle" from Singapore. Their website is: http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/cubicbottle_l/ Their song "U who tied up your short hair" is indie enough to give u the chills. Both of the above, sing Mandarin songs. If u like English songs, u can check out "Helicoid" of Malaysia. Their website is: http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/helicoid/ Listening to their song "Love Fade" will certainly bring fond memories of pop + punk music to u. So there u are, internet does make the world a smaller place. Support good music and support PEACE. |

| Hello... seems like ur a
Die Hard Beyond fans too. I have read all of ur discussion with lymwk.
Very interesting. Well i guess everbody has their own opinion or should i
say 'taste' of music. As i think if u are a die hard fans of Beyond....
every songs or albums that they have been producing should be regarded as
excellent. that's the case for me. I even bought all their albums even b4
of after ka kui's era... Even paul's solo album is quite cool and great
stuff too. That he's latest album 'Play It loud' as an example. It really
Rocks. He has his own unique style of music and taste. It's a great stuff
indeed. As for Steve's latest album 'Be Right Back', sounds good too.
Perhaps both of u should try it out. Well, frankly speaking as a die hard fans... i still waiting for their latest Beyond album (as a group)no matter how good the album is going to be. I just love Beyond and I will always do. Beyond Forever!!! |

trouble finding his CD's and tape. Unless you live in some remote place liek the Saharan desert. His music is available everywhere. Although I usually hate pretty boy singers, He's pretty good as far as pretty boy singers go, at least he can play a guitar. I saw him live at a concert and it was much better than I'd expected. Too bad I think he's a total jerk. P>S Sorry for hogging this site! |

find the lyric for nicholas Tze's song lyric titled: 1) without me 2) let me die thanks 4 ur cooperations!!! ^_^ |
| 2003-02-20 03:07 pm, GMT+08:00 |
Have u checked out Tower Records?? If u still can't get it, maybe u should just buy it through the internet. Strange indeed to know that Nicholas Tze's CDs are not in the market in some places! By the way, where are u from Charles?? |

| I can't believe you have
listed all sorts of asian music but you missed out some of the best!!!
Much of the music you like is similar to the same taste I have. Chen qi
zhen was a surprise beauty for me, I didn't think I would like it either
but I was hooked badly on this album, Shino, Faith Candy etc also rock.
But honestly talent wise they are not NEARLY as fantstic as Ai Jing from
Shen Yang province, China. Do you know Ai Jing? You can get heaps of info
on her at www.aijing.com. Her music is very personal and still not very
commercial, but my GOSH she is soooo talented!!!! She does mostly folk pop
and folk rock. She writes, sings, plays, produces all her own music, and
the songs she writes are better than any a normal song writer can write.
I'm trying to not overkill how much talent and honesty this girl has in
her music, but if you have never given her music a chance, you are missing
out. The other one you are missing out is Han Hong, originally from Tibet. Her voice will @$#@$!@# blow you away, it's so beautiful!! She sings kind of pop music with a very ethnic feel. She has many tracks which have very very strong Tibetan influence, and she sings folk songs BEAUTIFULLY. Like when I heard her version of The Chairman Mao tribute song, I was actually moved even though Mao was way before my time. And she writes and plays her own music too. Another folk artist I love, also with strong Tibetan influence is Li NA, but Li Na is really old style Chinese folk, you might not like her, but Li Na has the voice of a very very trained opera singer, her song "Qing Zhang Gao Yuan" will give you goosebumps, that's how powerful her singing is, Han Hong is similar in effect but more contemporary. I see from your site that you really love music, as I do too. So if for some reason you haven't heard these artists before (AI Jing and Han Hong especially) and you are keen to hear them just let me know and I can send you some samples. MAinland artist are a whole new flavour to Taiwan/Hk/Singapore/Malaysia, but very great because it's very raw. |
| 2003-02-17 10:42 pm, GMT+08:00 |
Thanks for recommending Ai Jing's website to me. I have listened to a few songs in her website. "My 1997" (I prefer the English version) and "Made in China" are both outstanding! Sounds totally alternative! Folk rock, to be more specific. "New York New York" is not bad also. Thanks again for your recommendation. Surely it broadens my perspective of China's music scene. Previously, I only know Na Ying. Now, I can say I know one more girl called Ai Jing. So, guys, if u are reading this, u can check out her site too and judge it yourself. |

| Hello, thanks for your reply. Although I don't agree with you on what's good and what isn't (e.g I didn't really like "Mosquito") and I thought the other albums had much more than 1 or 2 good songs (E.G "an immortal tale" and "Myself in the street" and "evolution")but each to their own I guess. Live and Basic was their best concert, well my favourite concert, and Paul....very handsome too! |

| I just saw your msg saying
that since Koma's death Beyond only produced 2 good albums. Well just want to say that's so not true!!! Their music changed, and modernised after his death, Paul's style relaly blossomed. 2/F rear block was a real "healing album" and "Sound" kicked ass. the next 2 were very sophisticated. not so much traditional rock, but some fantastic guitar playing in "mist" very veyr warm and beautiful tracks. "but gin but san" is probably one of my favourite post Koma albums. It's a really light and inspiring and very very good music. If you slot the album into "old Beyond rock" than of course you won't like it, but judge it stand alone and you'll find th emusic quality is fantastic! Especially the song "Hate It" and "last day" (one of Steve's best songs) and But gin but san, and sacrifice.... and Good Time really was just that "good time" just chill out and enjoy the music for what it is. You won' tfind old Beyond, but you will find fantastic music. And while I'm at it, Paul's solo work is great too!! it's sort of hard to accept and get into at first, but I"m telling you when you get hooked..there's no turning back. Some people think Beyond's post Koma work was too commercial and lacked feeling...but actually i think the music after Koma was not any more commercial, just change in expression style. Sorry if I"ve raving a bit, I just get defensive when people slag off Beyond's new work just cos they don't sound like Koma anymore. |
| 2003-02-13 11:11 pm, GMT+08:00 |
Thanks for writing in to express your opinionon on beyond and giving a solid discussion on their music. There are 2 things that I wish to clarify first before I go any further. First, I have nothing against Paul. I am all for post- Ka Kui stuff. In fact, I think some of the post-Ka Kui composition is better, especially in their albums "Sound" and "Live". Of course, I am not downgrading Ka Kui when I say this. Ka Kui has his own style (showing his best effort in the release of "Rock & Roll" album just before his death) and Paul has his own distinctive creativity in song writing which has my HIGH regards, especially for his contribution in the album "Sound" (1995) and "Live" (1996). And these 2 albums are the gems of post-Ka Kui era. "Sound" kicks and roars like a lion. No doubt, raw stuff which has my HIGHEST RESPECT of what a good rock stuff should be (in respects of music production). But, not with 2/F album (sorry, I have to disagree with u). I didn't like the sound produced. Second, why I say only 2 albums are good after Ka Kui's death. Let's see. In 1997, album "Let Go Off Your Hands" . Track "Let Go Off Your Hands" is good. But only ONE good track in the whole album. In 1997, album "Surprise". (Agree with u) "Mist" is good. But only ONE good track in the whole album. In 1998, album "Until U are Here". "Mosquito" is good. But only ONE good track in the whole album. In 1999, album "Good Time". (Agree with u) Track "Good Time" is good. Again only ONE good track in the whole album. Other tracks just didn't sink into your mind. I am always supporting their music. But if I feel that only 2 albums (post Ka Kui) which they produced are good, then I have to say what I feel. This is just my opinion. And of couse, u are entitled to your own opinion. I know what u are doing is right. I can understand your feeling and intention. If somebody says the 2 albums are not good. I may behave just like u, defending the 2 albums (which are my favourite BEYOND albums). Last but not least, thanks for writing in. It really widens our perspective on how we look at music as a whole. Anyone who are interested in expressing their opinions in music are welcomed to write in to the interactive forum. Keep your emails flooding in. Support rock music, support peace! |

Glad u like Jay as much as I do. Personally, I am hoping that Jay could do a bit more of hip hop rock music in his next album. I know many might object to the idea. But, I think Jay can do it. He had proven it before with his songs "Ninja" and "Shuang Jie Guan" (my hanyu pinyin is terrible). |

| 2002-10-02 04:27 am, GMT+08:00 |
I think his songwriting is getting more and more commercial nowadays compared to her olden days when she wrote her song "Rubbish". Also, she has toned down a lot rock elements in her album released in 2002 (which has the song "Better Break up"). I can't say if this is good or bad. But I believe the spirit of rock is still in her. She rocked on the stage during an award presentation when Tao Tze rendered his song "Hei Se Liu Ding". |
