| Here's another first-person shooter, but with a difference - It is set in Mars. The story begins where you play a miner who joins the resistance known as the Red Faction and performing missions for them. This game has a mixture of both first person shooting action and vehicular combat that is getting more and more common nowadays. In this game, you get to control some large vehicles such as a driller and submarine. What is even more fun is that you can control their movement and shoot at the same time. But the most overhyped feature surrounding this game has to be their destructable terrain technology known as Geo-mod. What it claims it does is that you can blow up walls and doors anywhere you like, creating a hole in the process. Actually in the game, it is only used when the particular level requires it, which defeats the whole purpose of having this feature. Weapons found in this game are mostly the usual ones you'll find in most first person shooters. However, I find that the sound that the weapons makes seems muffled, causing it to feel less powerful. There is also a unique sniper rifle where you can see and shoot through walls ! only a sci-fi game can get away with this. In short, the missions are ok but not really addictive enough. And once you finish the game, you'll just uninstall it and forget about it quickly. |
