| HITMAN : CODENAME 47 Genre : Action, Adventure Rating : *** Finally, a game where you are a hired killer has arrived. But does it live up to its hype ? Well, Yes and No. You play as a hired killer, or as the title says, a hitman. After a brief introduction, the first level starts off by training the gamer the controls used (which is a combination of the keyboard and the mouse). After mastering the controls, you are off to conduct your missions. The first level is a typical hired assassin scenario (sniping), which is what the game is all about. Another cool thing to do is to strangle a person using a piano wire. However, it slowly goes downhill to the point of frustration. In later missions, there are even more objectives to accomplish before you meet your target and a lot of thinking is involved. In fact, the game doesn't provide enough clues or hints because the creators of the game has decided to make it as open-ended as possible. But actually, what they have done is that they want the gamer to perform it their way, which most of the time is not the first thing that comes to mind. There is also a level where suddenly, from a hitman, you become a delivery boy in a assylum, which is very illogical and ridiculous. Together with the inability to save in the middle of the mission, what you get is a game that is potentially fun but poorly executed. Let's hope the sequel will improve the problems found in this one. -LYK |
