Delta Force
The year 1998 will always be remembered as the year where a new genre was created in computer gaming - the realistic action game. Games like Delta Force and Rainbow Six has a one-shot-kills rule that may not suit everybody's taste.

Delta Force is one of the few action games that takes place entirely outdoors. And, unlike Rainbow Six, you cannot control the AI players assigned to you. That means that you control only yourself. Missions are varied enough to keep it from being stale. Some of the missions include rescuing hostages, retreiving bombs and blowing up enemy supplies.

One of the reasons why this game was not as popular  is because the graphics in Delta Force are poor as it does not use any graphic accelerator. Therefore, you need a very powerful computer if you want to play in a higher resolution. Even on my Pentium II equipped with 64MB RAM, it slows down to a crawl and I am forced to lower the resolution. So most of the time, aiming an enemy soldier means shooting at tiny moving pixels.

In short, only play this game if you want to find out how the Delta Force franchise was first started. Otherwise, play the latest Delta Force - Black Hawk Down, which is the fifth in the series. -LYK

Pros : Realistic combat, missions are not boring

Cons : no cutscenes, poor graphics.
Smell the fresh air !
Game Name : Delta Force

Genre : Action
Rating : ***
Delta Force 2
The sequel is no different either. Just more of the same. The graphics have not improved one bit, eventhough it claims to support graphic accelerators. And, if you want hardware acceleration, it is only restricted to 640x480 resolution !
But if you are a fan of the original, you won't complain much. The missions are almost similar with the original. The AI is still the same - dumb as ever. The AI only shines when they are outdoors as they can spot you from afar and they are not even using sniper rifiles ! Just normal weapons.
For a 1999 game, the developers seriously needs to update the graphics engine as there are more and more better choices out there.
