To anyone who happens to see this website, join us in the caravan. April 20, 2007, 8:00 A.M. Meeting venue is at QC Circle at an area near the gray SB overpass. Contact me at 09166052854 or Ryan Damaso at 09277069631 for further details on this march.
  Hope to see you there.

We're glad we were heard!

by Tim Decano

Last March 26, 2007, two days after the Baklasan One along QC Circle, we expected that no more candidates will nail or staple their campaign materials on any tree. But to our dismay, there were more posters. And they're all posters of Chavit Singson. I texted all the members of the alliance and I planned to call MMDA to ask their help so we could remove the campaign posters of Singson in the soonest possible time.
But something great happened that night. GMA-7 aired our news clipping during their primetime evening news program 24 Oras. The next day as the jeep I was riding on cruised along elliptical road, I was delighted to see that there are no more posters nailed or stapled to the trees, except for the big posters of Team Unity.
Thanks to that broadcast. But this does not mean that we will be lax. Watch out for our next steps in informing the electorate on issues that relate to the environment.

Baklasan and LYFE's soft launch in national TV

24 Oras Baklasan Coverage

Last saturday, LYFE started its first activity called Baklasan One. Around ten of us gathered in Quezon City Circle namely: me, Tiffie, and Tata for UP Haring Ibon; Meggie and Roland for PWU-SAVE; Ryan and Lisa for Kalikasana-PNE; Lillian of UP Lakay Mountaineers; and Anna for UP Agham-Youth.
After a few minutes, Carlo Lorenzo, a reporter from GMA-7, arrived to cover the activity that LYFE will do that day. The Baklasan activity is just one of the several steps of a bigger activity of LYFE and other environmental alliances - Envi-Vote. Envi-Vote's primary goal is to make the electorate aware that we should favor candidates who are for the environment. However, Envi-Vote does not and will not in anyway campaign in favor of any candidate. What LYFE aims to achieve with this activity is to make the candidates, especially those who advertise that they are environmentalists, be accountable for the things that they are doing.
Anyhow, Carlo Lorenzo interviewed Ryan and me to ask about the goal of the activity. After which, we went around the Circle to start dismantling nailed posters of the following candidates: MIGS ZUBIRI, CHAVIT SINGSON, AKBAYAN, TUCP, and many others. I was delighted not to see any posters of Loren Legarda. But after walking a few meters, I saw her face nailed to a tree where another AKBAYAN poster was nailed too. I blurted out, "Oh please, not Loren." Then Carlo Lorenzo reacted, "Ay, hindi pwede yan. Dapat walang pinipili," thinking what I meant was Loren's face should not be removed. Of course, I didn't mean it that way. I was completely disappointed and now there's no one that I'll be voting for.
After a few more minutes and photo ops of the different photojournalists, we went to CEC to rest, have lunch and wait for the coverage in QTV's Balitanghali.
And there we were. LYFE's first exposure in national television. In the midst of our happiness, we were taken aback by Loren Legarda's answer. She was "blaming" the "well-meaning" supporters "na baka di alam kung saan dapat maglagay ng posters." Our latest Pontius Pilate, in time for the coming Lent.
After Balitanghali's coverage, the Baklasan was shown four more times. This is it. We made these candidates react to our message. But we won't stop here. Wait for our next attack.

"When will we learn? When will we change? Just in time to see it all fall down?
