Restless Spirits
We who are here
Have been so for a thousand years
The light in our eyes have turned to darkened skies
Our souls slowly doth toll away with a weak drum
The heart's song is slow and long now
The taste, once so sweet, has grown foul
Our senses, once so alive, have gone numb

We wait...
We hunger for new life!
Oh little chick-a-dee, do come in and keep us company again.....

I wrote this after I read "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson. And I was also inspired by the movie "Rose Red" by Stephen King.
