| We have just experienced the coldest winter yet (for us) in Central
Otago. All the dam lakes froze, including ours, to the point that
our Pekin ducks were confined to a few square metres by the pump overflow
pipe which was all the surface water available. We had a couple of
ice hockey enthusiasts doing their thing and lots of tourists and locals
visiting to heave stones and rocks on the ice, mostly to hear the weird
sound they make as they skip across the surface. Then we had a couple
of weeks of hoar frost, plus a snow fall which turned the frozen lake to
a white carpet. Absolutely beautiful but a bit like living in a fridge.
Kylee is still in Samoa with the latest love of her life, Patrick the Pilot. Both came to visit for my (May) birthday in a Piper Cherokee (from his folks farm at Takaka, Nelson) and I was taken up over Alexandra and Lye Bow and the lake for my b'day present. Excellent! Jenny is now in Osaka, she moved from Tokyo and now spends her time with the new man in her life, Patrick the Teacher ... (have you noticed the similarity of names :) They have tripped to Thailand and she is coming home for a quick visit in August (soon), then back to Japan again on another contract. Our sad news is the passing of Linda's dad, the girls loved grandad, and a good mate to me. He will be missed. Latest pictures follow ... |

Kylee is now vetting in Auckland, still with Patrick, they are enjoying life in the fast lane! Jenny is now in Vancouver BC, Canada, doing a 1 year course in fashion design, then, well who knows... She is busy and enjoying her new venture and adventure. We are still in paradise! |
