 In 1867 the citizens of the place united in purchasing a lot of ground containing about eleven acres, and lying within easy access of the corporate limits in a very desirable location, for burying purposes. They were duly erected into a corporation under the name and style of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association. They at once proceeded to lay out and dispose of the lots, and to beautify and ornament the grounds. This has been done in a highly creditable manner, corresponding to the wealth and tastes of the citizens. In time it, no doubt, will be one of the finest places of sepulture in the county.
