The Jeremiah Lomison Family
of
Lycoming & Indiana Counties

Jeremiah LOMISON was born in 1814, near Washington, Columbia County, and was a son of William and Ann LOMISON nee FULKERSON. The former was a miller. He died in October, 1862, at the age of eighty-two; his wife in 1867, at the age of seventy-four.

The family removed to our subject's present farm in 1837. He was married in 1837 to Mary MERVINE, of Hughesville, Lycoming County. Their children were: Angelina, m. James DEVINNEY; John Nelson, m. Miriam STEWART; Jane, m. to William M. STEWART; Mary, d.; Margaret m to Allison LOUGHREY; and Lucy, d. Our subject was a tanner by trade, and the superintendent of the Wolf Tannery of Hughesville for five yeras. For several years in addition to farming, he managed a grist mill located on his property which was erected by Robert ALLEN. He also conducted a general store for several years, and was a dealer in stock and country procuce. He served as county commissioner, and in other official trusts. The Lomison tract was patented to Hannah SIMPSON in 1815.
