This RPG is designed to work sort of like Hogwarts does in the books, only online and as Beauxbatons. There's a community where classes will be posted by the professor, should classes be important to the plot. Not all classes will be posted, though. We will make up schedules for each student (you will choose the classes from a provided list) so that you and the other students know what you've been up to that day.
(NOTE: if you are a girl, you can RP a male character, and vice versa.)
After you finish 7th year, you can find a job either as a professor (there's always an opening in Defense against the Dark Arts, for some reason...) or working in Saen Allee or Fourchette, if you wish.
Each "Year" goes for two months, A calendar of scholastic events is posted on the homepage. Holidays like Christmas will be abbreviated but will exist, so check the calendar.
Where to post what:
~Grande_halle community: 3rd person (narrative) entries about things happening in a place other than the dungeons, the common room, or the classroom. While it is specifically about the Grande Halle, RPing for hallways, outside, and any other place like that go here.
~Personal journal: I assume that many of you know how to write in a journal. If you haven't a clue, check some journals of students who have already been accepted for ideas. Other students can see these entries, while teachers and adults cannot, so if you write about something you shouldn't have done only those students who are prefects might scold you. If you'd like something to be private, mark it like this:
[private]
I do not like to eat shoes.
[/private]
If you'd like something private between you and another character (or several characters) mark it thus:
[locked to ___ and ___]
I really don't like to eat shoes.
[/locked]
You may also want to enlist the help of an LJ-cut. (see faq if you don't know what that is or don't know how to do it).
~the dungeons, shops, common rooms, or classrooms: 3rd person RPing in the setting in which you post.
Character Rules:
~No character may be related to any canon character. (No children of Harry or Hermione, or long lost Malfoy cousins, or any other English characters. No solely English names (Andrews or Smith, for instance), and I don't accept as an excuse that they moved to France. No Fleur children, relatives, etc.)
~You may not declare any special powers or any skills that would be higher to your level of education. First years will not know animagus transformations, and seers and metamorphmaguses are extremely rare. There will be NO veela whatsoever. If you have special talent, be sure that it will be recognised and nurtured by the professors. If you'd like to have a talent (a seer, metamorphmagus, selki, what-have-you) please mention that in the application (or, if you decide after joining, contact the mods about it.) Failure to do so may result in expulsion.
~We expect a certain level of maturity of our students. This means that you should spell to the best of your abilities, and if you are a horrible speller, use the spell check feature on the post message form. Correct grammatical structures and proper use of punctuation are required, just like in real school. Anyone writing without proper capitalization or using instant messenger speak will be tortured on the end of a long pointy thing.
~All roleplayers MUST be over the age of 13, although all characters will be 11 when they start the game.
~Each character should find a picture to represent you on the message boards. This should be of a person, or part of a person (ie. eyes, smiles, hands) that is appropriate to your age level. If you intend to use a drawing we ask that you either have drawn it or gotten express permission from the artist and you must show this or these pictures to the mods before using them. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES: NO ANIME! Your picture should be believeable as an 11-year-old. As the character grows up, you may want to find an older version of them somewhere, but that is not required. You are allowed to have more than one picture, but they must be of the same person. Also, do not change your mind every few minutes/days/seconds about who will be in your pictures. People will have gotten used to you with that face and changing will cause confusion. You may not use a well known actor as your picture. If you've picked a little known actor, please clear their picture with the mods.
Make the picture(s) 100x100 pixels, then upload it/them to Greatestjournal in your account. In your default icon (more, if you'd prefer) put a small initial or other form of house identification so that your house is plainly visible. Prefects and Head boys/girls will also get a "badge" to display. They will be semi-admins to help moderate forums and generally help with small things, as well as being prefects in the game. So respect that. Professors are, needless to say, admins as well.
~There will be NO OOC posts on the boards. Once you post on the Express, you will not drop character in the game (any OOCness should be done in private correspondence either to other players or an admin). You MAY post OOC comments in the OOC board, but please keep them Beaux-related. Absoloutely no posting of forwards or funny emails you recieved, biographical novels, poems, and other unsolicited drivel unless you have gotten permission from the mods (highly unlikely). You may start posts to discuss other fandoms you are in, to introduce yourself, or to ask questions of the mods and things like that.
(you'll need this when you submit your app: bandages)
~The term will begin for you on the first of the month after we recieve and approve your submission, unless there is a shortage of participants. We will try to get back to you on the status of your application within 48 hours. When we contact you, we will tell you your Gringotts vault number... Remember this, as it is how you will purchase your supplies!
~Look at the OOC board and you email inbox for updates and announcements. You may have to look in your junk folder if you have a filter like that, because sometimes emails I send to a group of students gets filed there.
