The weyr is dark, as it should be at this time of night. All the glowbaskets have since been covered or removed. Your footsteps echo through the cavernous weyr as you walk through it, trying not to run into any of the residents belongings. Youd been sent to retrieve something and not to touch anything else. Looking out through the darkness of the cave, a pair of large glowing orbs slowly appear. Your heart jumps into your throat at the sight but you soon calm yourself.
Theres no need to be afraid of the dragon, you remind yourself, even if you hadnt expected her to wake in your coming. Since Lyana is already awake, you unshield your glowbasket without fear of waking her. The queens eyes whirl lazily a deep blue color. She seems in good humor for this hour.
Gazing into those whirling blue gems of hers, you can all but see her beautiful golden hide hidden from view by the blanket of darkness shrouding her. Any who knew the golden dragon as well as Orianna and a select others would immediately notice the areas where her hide darkens to bronze shadows, one of her identifying characteristics. Thin, nearly translucent hide thats stretched across her wings is a stunning gold color, the edges tinted only lightly with the bronze shadowing.
Her wingspan is stunning, along with the well-developed muscles across the dragons chest and shoulders. Lyanas bulk easily outmatches any dragons, even a bronzes. The golden queens opalescent eyes are set perfectly on her wedge-shaped head, each gem easily larger than your head. Though the dragon is countless many times larger than yourself, something in those whirling eyes reassures you that she would not even think of harming you.
Having promised Orianna you would not disturb anything, you quickly retrieve the circlet she had sent you to get and exit the weyr, a warm pleasure coursing through you at having run into the queen dragon.
