Commish Report
Week 4 - September 21, 2002
Was I sick this weekend with a virus that had lasted 12 days as of Saturday with no signs of going away? Yes.
Was my condition worsened by the fits of rage I encountered in watching the Tennessee game?
Probably.
Was my mood improved by the call I received from Barfield Saturday morning?
No.
On that call did I learn that some "guy" Beaudin knew, who apparantly had been such a shady character in the underworld of sports gambling that he had been kicked out of Vegas, told Beaudin that the two "locks of the week" were Toledo and UTEP?
Yes.
Did I have Hawaii -19.5 at UTEP doubled?
Yes.
In the depressed funk I was in after the Tennessee game, did I stay up until 1:00 in the morning to watch the entire Hawaii UTEP game, just because I needed something, anything to restore hope?
Your goddam right I did.
Was the game fixed in favor of UTEP?
With certainty.
Did Timmy Chang, the Hawaii starting quarterback, mysteriously have the worst game I've ever seen any QB have at any level of college football, missing WIDE open receivers consistently, even ones that were stationary only 5-7 yards away?
Yes.
Did he have this horendous game mysteriously on the very same week that the second string QB had left the team for "personal reasons"?
Did June Jones thwart this obvious attempt at corruption by benching Timmy Chang in favor of Shawn Withy-Allen, a third string senior QB who had never thrown a pass in a game before?
God love him, yes.
Did Shawn Withy-Allen thumb his nose at the organized crime powers that be by throwing for two TD's and running for another, securing a cover for Hawaii?
FUCK YEAH HE DID.
Was it worth it to stay up and watch the whole thing?
No, because I felt like total sheite the next day, leading to a trip to the doctor on Tuesday.
Did the Hawaii game help secure an 8-2 for Barfield putting him in a three-way tie with Dave Jones and Beaudin splitting a mere $170?
Yes.
Am I happy about that because I had a side bet with Dave Jones and Barfield where the first to go 8-2 had to pay the others?
Well, yes.
Moral of the story:
With Barfield and Dirty each handing me $20 of their $57 they won for the week plus the $10 I won from G/GFB in our ongoing side bet less the $20 I lost for the week… I won $30. That's only $7 less than Barfield and Dave took home. HA! Take that fockers. You can't keep me down. I'm back, baby, and stronger than ever. Not that I was ever there, but there was this one time I went 8-2, and now I'm feeling it again. If it's not this week, it's the next. If not that one, then the week after that. Look out whitey, Sweet T is ROLLING, and it's get out of the way or get run over!
Seeyainaweek!
