It is twenty-six years since Heep Yunn School held its first Fun
Fair. What was different this year? This year twenty-five class stalls
had to squeeze themselves into the tennis court. The basketball court
is no longer a place of fun as the gymnasium is undergoing the School
Improvement Programme. However, parents and friends still left the
school with joy and loads of presents. Looking down the stairs leading
to the Primary School Hall, you could see a grand picture of concentrated
black, brown, yellow, red and green points. That was a colourful and
attractive mosaic pictures.
The Jumbo Sale was moved from its traditional location in the canteen
to the Kindergarten. This year the low prices surprised and delighted
our visitors. Struggling through the crowds from there to the tennis
courts, we could see much progression in the decorations on the stalls.
No longer were they just painted. Fresh ideas were added such as the
3-D telephone booth and a camera larger than a person. These new ventures
are signs of the imagination Heep Yunn girls possess.
Heep Yunn Girls are independent and capable because they do all the
preparation work by themselves. They organize themselves into groups,
set up the stalls by tying bamboo poles together, collect sponsored
or donated goods even if those companies are in Tuen Mun or Tai Po.
What are they doing this for? They are contributing their efforts,
sweat, and tears to their school ? Heep Yunn School.
