Rear Camber Trick
Lowered your car and don't want to spend $100+ for a rear camber kit? Well, you're in luck if you have about $7 and 2 hours of time. This trick is good for the 96-98 Civic and 94-95 Accords. I believe there are more vehicles that can be fixed using this method. I am doing research to see what other hondas can be corrected this way. All of the vehicles are pretty much going to be the same. The differences will be in the new bolts you install. Let's get started with the Civic.

96-98 Civic

Tools needed:
--Jack & stands
--(4) M10 x 1.25 40mm bolts. (45mm will work if you can't find 40's)
**M10 = Shaft diameter / 1.25 = thread pitch / 40mm = length of bolt**
--3/8" galvanized washers
--Thread locking compound

You can get the required bolts from your local Home Depot, ACE Hardware, or Pep Boys. I went with Pep Boys (.99 each) because their bolts are for automotive use and have the 10.9 head stamp which is the strongest I found out of all 3 stores. The washers you will need are galvanized 3/8" washers. Home Deopt has them for .07 a piece. I ended up using 6 washers per bolt since the 45mm bolts were to long. That was using 3 underneath the shim (the ones that adjust the camber) and 3 just underneath the head to keep the bolt from bottoming out. I waited two weeks for Pep Boys to get the 40mm's but they never came in. I have yet to see them to this day (I visit the store every now and then) and that was March 2002 I did this trick. In the picture you can see the OEM bolt that you will remove in comparison with the 45mm I installed.

First thing is to get both the rear wheels off. There are 2 approaches you can take to change out the bolts:

1st route: Get a bucket, bricks, or whatever to support the rear drum assembly so it won't slam to the ground once the 2 bolts from the upper control arm are removed. Once the support is there remove the 2 bolts that are shown in the picture. Place the washers (1 washer per inch dropped) underneath the shim and reinstall the new bolts with thread locking compound.

2nd route: This route takes a little longer. I took this route the first time since I did not have anything to support the drum assembly. Remove one (Bolt #1) bolt completely and the other (Bolt #2) enough to get the washers underneath the shim to reinstall new bolt (Bolt #1). Remove the bolt that is halfway out (Bolt #2) all the way, add washers and reinstall new bolt (Bolt #2).

Once you corrected the camber in the rear I recommend getting the rear toe adjusted. The caster on Hondas are not adjustable. When you get the rear aligned the "toe" will be all that needs to be adjusted since you have now adjusted the camber.

94-95 Accord

For the Accord you will follow the instructions for the civic above. The only difference will be the new bolts are 60mm length instead of 40 or 45mm lengths. So, that's M10 x 1.25 60mm bolts which you can also get the 10.9 grade from Pep Boys (.99 each). The same 3/8" galvanized washers will be fine for this task as well. The picture shows you what bolts you'll be removing on the 95 Accord.
