Put more sand in sand traps. |
|
2. |
There are several areas of
fairways that over watered & uderwatered. There
are some fairways that to me should not be closed to cart traffic. The grass
in fairways & around greens is not cut the same. There lots of areas in
the fairways that are lacking uniform grass, which causes bad lies to play
from. |
|
3. |
Don't mow so short allowing
the grass to brown. More watering. |
|

Golf coarse superintendent
does not understand golf. Any experience that he now has, he has gained on
the job and we have paid for it. Specific complaints - when he was asked
about re-painting the stripes on the cart paths, he said that it was too high
a maintenance problem. Therefore the ladies 18 & 9 wholers
did it. - we paid to have the coarse surveyed and
the sprinkler heads marked for yarded. As the sprinkler heads have been
replaced the new heads have not been marked with the yardage. - when the Italian cypres trees
where removed from the coarse and we lost the 150 yard markers, we asked to
have something else put in to mark the 150 yard point. Searching for yardage
distances slows down a round of golf. - we now have
4x4 posts installed around the 8th green to protect new grass seed. Does he
care that several/many people have hit the posts or ropes when hitting to the
green. Did anyone think about putting in sod like they did on the 3rd whole? |

The LWW Golf Course is paying
for 2 people to maintain the grounds and clubhouse, that
should be paid by the Association. The LWWA is paying for maintenance of two
on-course toilets. This should be paid for and/or maintained by the golfers.
A previous agreement caused this imbalance. |
|
6. |
Overwatering
for instance on the right of the 6th green there is standing water and ruts.
This may be more a function of an outdated watering system instead of poor
planning on the sprinkler system. |

8. |
Review watering practices on
course some areas over watered. |
|
9. |
Why a three
hour frost delay when one hour would do it? |
|
10. |
Sand traps need to be more
consistently filled, some are shallow, some are deep, some are fluffy, some are hard. |
|
11. |
The course is kept far too
wet in the Summer. No roll, plugged lies and golf cart and mx equipment ruts are good indicators. Duh? The rough
around the greens is kept at an almost unplayable height for the average
golfer. Fairway widths and mowing patterns punish the high handicap golfer
unreasonably. Why pinch the landing areas down to a few yards for our least
skilled golfers? The greens are kept so wet in the Summer that excessive
damage is caused by ball marks which many times the ball embeds. Healthy
grass does not grow in standing water/mud. Go out to the 3rd green when the cup
is being reset and smell the rotten, stagnate earth. Check out the approach
to the 6th green and walk in the bog to the right front of the green as well.
Come out early any morning and see the water from the 3rd tee running down
the road for two hundred yards to the lake in front of the 4th tee. The
Bridges on holes 3,4,12 and 14 are wet and slick early every morning when the
course is irrigated. Someone is going to be seriously hurt. All that is
needed to make these bridges more safe is a walking
strip of no skid down the center of the bridges. This has been brought to the
Superintendents attention, yet nothing changes. No one seems to care. is time for change. We are not getting our moneys worth!!
Why do golfers only foot the bill for maintaining the grounds around the
Association Offices and Clubhouse? These are not related to the Golf (Self
Supporting Amenity) should be paid for by all association Members just like
our other parks!! s |
|
12. |
The course condition
continues to improve every year. |
|
13. |
Q. 18 is really N/A |
|
14. |
It appears they do a lot of
maintenance on the lady niners Tuesday morning. It
could be moved around a bit more than it is. |
|
15. |
Practice area needs regular
ball pick up and better maintenance or replacement of tee area. The
artificial turf has not held up as expected and was a waste of money. |
|
16. |
let
teeing grounds grass grow to prox. 2in. high. Mow shoter for the tee off area where the tee markers will be
placed. This might help overall growth of grass. |
|
17. |
I can't fault the maintenance
staff or supervision -- they put the course into tip top condition for major
tournaments. We need more staff so the course is always in tip top condition. |
|
18. |
Parking lot and around proshop and restaurant landscape needs help |
|
19. |
? |
|
20. |
Too many holes closed to
carts. Need more fertilizer and top dressing to produce thicker grass. Not
enough attention paid to repairing bare spots which have been prevelant for way too long!! |
|
21. |
See #15 & #17. When the
grass is mowed (fairways & rough) why can't the "cart" signs be
moved around? What's their purpose? With the total disregard for these signs
that we've seen by golfers, we ought to just get rid of them anyway. The
watering in some areas of the course is unbelievable. From overwatering to no water in some areas. Some areas have
permanent "NO CARTS" signs (that golfers disregard anyway) where
the ground and grass look better than other areas where the ground is so saturated
and soggy, you can't even walk there. The sand in the bunkers has got to be
the worst sand I have ever seen. |
|
22. |
The left side on the 15th
fairway next to the cart path is total hardpan and receives negligible
watering. If your ball lands in that area (and many players end up there) it
scratches your golfclub because of the hard and
rocky surface. |
|
23. |
greens
are to slow. they need to be vertcut and rolled on
a regular basis.Blue tee boxes need work on #4 box
leveling with the plugs after the arification and
#9 tees are back under the tree to often the box should be mowed 3 to 4 feet
farther up.And no more curbs on the golf course.?
Who is the genius? |
|
24. |
Maybe a little less attention
to yournaments for guests and more for the daily
people who are paying for this |
|
25. |
Ken Wolford and his staff do
an outsanding job on the golf course....They are to
be commended |
|
26. |
The greens were in excelleny shape right before the Tournament but lately
they seem to be getting rougher. |
|
27. |
As a whole, the golf course
is kept in good condition. |
|
28. |
Overall-generally too wet -
do not believe that much irigation is needed.
Course would be much easier for the average golfer to play with a little RUN
on the ball. |
|
29. |
Find a way to prevent wheel
ruts along paths. This problem really degrades the impression of the course
upkeep |
|
30. |
They do very good work!! |
|
31. |
Why are #10 and #8 always closed ,if it's a turf problem, fix it. |
|
32. |
A maintenance trouble team
should be available any time there are golfers on the course. E.G., during a
Sunday tournament, a decaying dead deer smelled up the entry to the
course/clubhouse, and no one was available to remove it. |
|
33. |
Surprisingly WELL maintained
considering the summer heat & this being a mountain course! |
|
34. |
I feel that Ken Wolford and
his crews do a great job of keeping the course in good condition. |
|
35. |
The few times I've played,
the golf course looked good. |
|
36. |
Maintain decent sand in
bunkers, including practice bunker. |
|
37. |
I would like to see the
"opening" i.e. fareways widened on 12 and
17 so the shorter hitters have a chance to get on the green once in a while. |
|
38. |
There are several beginner
golfers that would benefit from the rubber tees being in better shape on the
driving range. More size options would help as we learn. |
|
39. |
keep yardage markers painted
on cart paths |
|
40. |
The course receives too much
fairway water throughout the summer. Fairways are always too wet,
particularly landing areas for tee shots! |
|
41. |
Ken is a knowleable
superintendent but a poor manager. The golf course is in great shape this
year because we have not had alot of hot weather.
However there are meny spots that get too much
water and many areas that get very little. the
sprinkler system needs to be updated. |
|
42. |
Ken does a great job! |
|
43. |
1. REPAIR WATERLOGGED AREA ON
RIGHT OF 6TH GREEN ,BELOW SAND TRAP. |
|
44. |
the
course is well maintained considering the large amount of play and the number
of golfers. |
|
45. |
drainage on parts of the
course is terrible |
|
46. |
Supervision of maintenance
and upkeep of the course is weak. No apparent reason for cutting/planting
trees --- inconsistant watering plan. |
|
47. |
The landscaping around the
pro shop needs major landscaping improvements ~ redo lawn, add flowers,
plants, etc. |
|
48. |
Seems like most of the
watering and mowing is done on Tuesday mornings. |
|
49. |
Bare areas need to be seeded
or soded. Otherwise very good maintenance. |
|
50. |
They do a great job given the
age of the course and the amount of play the course gets |
|
51. |
Before removing trees from
the golf course..more
thought before action. |
|
52. |
See #14. Golf Superintendent
needs to be managed more hands on. I suggest he be placed on a performance
incentive/improvement plan. Give him specific items quarterly and reward him
or guide him according to his willingness to perform those specific assigned
tasks. His management skills are lacking. He has displayed an unwillingness
to listen to input from others. Therefore, more direction needs to come from
his manager with user committee's input. We need someone with direct golf
course management experience to take charge of all golf operations. We may
need a new level of management to coordinate: golf maintenance, golf
operations, pro shop, practice areas, and clubhouse as it relates to golf.
These ongoing issues need to come to solution. |
|
53. |
Course is in bad shape ! Some of the greens are very bad. |
|
54. |
Lines should be painted on
the cart paths by the maintenance crew. 150 yard markers should be visible.
Greens in better shape on a year around basis. |
|
55. |
We are not allowed on #1,#8, and #4 no matter what the weather. Very annoying. |

Ken and his team do a very

If our "Golf
leaders" would visit other courses in the area it would be fairly
obvious that we are sub standard here |
|
64. |
would like to know results
from greens review from golf professional once its completed, believe any new
greens should be paid for by all members |
|
65. |
Members need to take better
care of the course. Divots are unfilled, pock marks unattended on the greens.
Pin placement should be more varied. |
|
66. |
The existing markers need to
be maintained. Tee boxes for all black tees finished. |
|
67. |
There are always ruts where
the maintenance vehicles drive off the cart paths. |
|
68. |
None |
|
69. |
Happy with the maintenance of
the course. ( It would be nice if the ball washers had a little soap or other
cleaning solutions) |
|
70. |
we
spend too much money for what we get. the management
doesn't listen. when they do damage to the course
they don't fix it in an expeditious manner. |

I wish they wouldn't water he
greens every Tuesday morning for niners golf |

The course is beautiful and
in good shape. |

75. |
too many soggy spots and too
many barren spots |
|
76. |
Lack of dierctional
and yardage markings, inconsistent sand, and general course comfort
improvements. |
|
77. |
I think Ken does a good job.
Every one is not always going to be happy with what he is doing, but all in
all good job. Do we want green fairways or do we want roll? I choose roll,
but you don't get fired for green fairways. |
|
78. |
Putting greens should be
mowed on Tuesdays. Frost delays monitored closer for additional playing
times. |
|
79. |
Why are some holes i.e.
number 8 closed for cart traffic most of the time.? |
|
80. |
Concentrate of course
playability rather than lush grass and waterlogged fairways and greens. Mark
Ground under repair on a weekly frequency. Fill bunkers behind greens per
master plan to save money. Replace greens 3,8 and 9.
This would reduce maintenance cost and increase playability. Take down the
permanent barrier in front of the 8th green. This is a rediculous
obstacle that serves NO purpose. |
|
81. |
Overall, the Golf Course
Superintendent, Ken Wolford, and his staff, does an excellent job and we are
proud of our course. |
|
82. |
We are new to |
|
83. |
Some infrastructure needs rennovation: Steps/retaining wall on hole 9 and Lookout
stand on hole 18 are several examples |
|
84. |
leave him alone |
|
85. |
We like to come over to the
golf area and putt and practice hitting the balls. The greens look nice. The
few times I have golfed on LWW course I thought it was well maintained.. |
|
86. |
In the summer there are areas
of the course that receive excessive water ie.front
of greens and some fairways. |
|
87. |
They have always helped and
been alert to our needs. |
|
88. |
Ken and his crew do a great
job! |
|
89. |
None at this time. |
|
90. |
They do a wonderful job! |
|
91. |
New black tees on hole 7 is
in a poor location for women |
|
92. |
The golf course has been kept
in good shape other than being too wet, but that isn't the fault of the
maintenance crew. |
|
93. |
Hard hats should be worn by
all maintainance workers in harms way. |
|
94. |
consider less in the winter |
|
95. |
Maintain all "brown
" areas near fairways |
|
96. |
The greens are terrible. They
don't hold good shots hit into them on a consistent basis. Ths speed of the greens is not consistent and can vary
even hole to hole on a given day. I am convinced that the current greenskeeper is not capable of maintaining a course in
top condition. He came from a public course and I believe that that is where
he should be. If we want a golf course that is considered a top rate golf
course and one that other golfers want to play, thus improving our property
values commensurately, we need to get a greenskeeper
who has the skills and desire to accomplish it. It is inconsiveable
to expect a greenskeeper who doesn't even play golf
on a regular basis to know how his course is playing. |
|
97. |
I wonder the need to have the
fairway on hole 8 permanently closed to carts |
|
98. |
concerned
about fertilzer runoff into the lake. |
|
99. |
Ken does a yeoman's job on
the course ... ( my only criticism of him is that he has taken out some old
growth trees ... their removal has not improved the green or tee box),
otherwise he has my almost 100% support. The greens crew are friendly &
seem to enjoy their jobs (Does mgmt beat them or drug them
??? seriously ... it's refreshing to see ). |
|
100. |
Too many emplyees
in the winter? maybe some partime
help as needed. |
|
101. |
Why is golf course maintenance
charged with the entire clubhouse grounds, when the funds come from only
golf? |
|
102. |
Why are there
"special" events. This restricts the use
of people that don't have time to join the special privileged groups. |
|
103. |
To me it looks like more
watering is required. |
|
104. |
Keep up the good work |
|
105. |
Course is too wet on some holes, your ball shouldn't be plugging in the summer time.
Why can't the greens be rolled during the year, not just when there is a
tournament? Still holes out on the course that are
covered by tall grass. |
|
106. |
It is in better shape at
different times, not always depending on the time of the year. For the most
part it is an enjoyable course. |
|
107. |
You can cut back on
maintenance in the winter mon ths |
|
108. |
Grass areas not getting
watered. Standing water in other places. Has been better this year. Sometimes
irregularly cut grass. Greens and tees in poor share sometimes--also getting
better this year. |
|
109. |
well cared for - good job |
|
110. |
I think that a good job was
done this summer with water and mowing. Some guys felt that the course was
too wet but they bitch when it is too brown. There are some that never will
be satisfied and to them I say go join |

During routine maintenance
they should mow/go in the counter clockwise direction so that they provide
minimal interferance with the players, generally
they go in the same direction. |
|
116. |
Bunkers are not all the same;
texture of sand, depth and lips on quite a few bunkers are impossible to get
out of. |
|
117. |
There is too much Bermuda
grass, especially in the rough near the greens. |
|
118. |
I've already made a comment
about the golf course maintenance. |
|
119. |
Make sure workers wear hard
hats at all times when working while play is going on. Put protective screens
up in front of workers to guard against a golf ball
coming nearing them and so they may continue working while play is going on
rather than stopping work every few minutes which is a waste of time. |
|
120. |
If you have to cut trees lets
put back bigger trees |
