Handkerchief Gifts
Materials:
- Assorted handkerchiefs
- Embroidery thread
- Embroidery needle
- Small embroidery hoop, optional
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread
For a monogrammed handkerchief:
- Using typeface enlarged to the desired size on a photocopier, trace initials or date in pencil
onto the corner of a handkerchief, or draw the monogram freehand.
- Insert the handkerchief into a small embroidery hoop, or handhold it. Fill in the monogram
with embroidery thread using a satin stitch or French knots.
For a handkerchief envelope:
- Lay the handkerchief on a flat surface.
- Fold the bottom third up into the center, and then hand-stitch the sides closed to create an
envelope.
- Slip the gift into the pocket, fold over the top flap, and loosely stitch the envelope closed
(or add a button and buttonhole for fastening).
