Books for Babies

It's never too early to begin a child's library, and a set of classics – from Peter Pan to Mother Goose – is sure to be appreciated in the reading years to come.

Baby books
Materials:
  • Clip art or rubber stamps
  • Heavyweight art paper in various colors
  • Paper punch
  • Various accessories such as tassels, ribbon, etc.

Instructions:

  1. To personalize a gift of books, include a set of handmade bookplates: Color-copy borders from clip-art books to make the plates, stack them together, and tie with a bow – or have bookplate images made into rubber stamps.
  2. Alternatively, donate a book to a library in a child's name, sending a bookmark “card” to inform the child of the gift. Make the bookmark out of heavyweight art paper. Punch a hole at the top, add an eyelet (available at sewing-supply stores) if desired, and thread with a tassel.
