Mount Washington
6,288 feet at the summit of Washington

We left Loyola at 1:00pm in the van and began the long drive to Washington State Park.  Our drive was fun though so it passed quikly as we listened to the tunes on Peter's stereo and looked at the beutiful scenery as we got closer to the park.  We first made a stop at the base of Mount Washington for some information and we all got a chance to gaze at the great menace casting a shadow over us.  After that we drove to our first night camp site just ten minutes away.  By this time it was just about dark and we set up our nights home.  Jarett, Peter, Nick, Phil, Micheal. Patick, Kevin and Tim all began to cook our food.  Micheal was having trouble with his Peak One as it almost singed the eyebrows off his head.  Meanwhile we all ate peacefully in the heart of our care tacker and life giver.  We slept that night (some better then others because some people have problems breathing at night but none the less we slept).  The next morning we were up at 5:30 eating our oatmeal and preparing for the days trek.  We reached the mount Washington and got our clothes on, once ready we noticedthat the veteran mountaineerers were dressed very light and the others, me included, were dressed to the hilt as if we were about to ascend Everest or K2.  But at the first stop we all pealed off our clothes because the temperature was so warm. The hike was beutiful, we bouldered up the side of the mountain and gaped at the beauty of the mother godess. We reached our lean too after two hours of hicking, many of the memebers were very fatiqued and didn't think they could make it the rest of the way.  But we all ate our energy bars( I had the Sun Ripe Pure Fruit one and i think they could be the best on the market).   We started our second ascent at around 7:30 or 8:00. We took the Tuckermans Ravine Trail and by this time the sun was beaming down on us, giving us renewed energy and satisfaction of our surroundings.  The hike was long, very long and once we got above tree level and the bowl the winds blew at 65mph, so we crouched behingd a rock as we put on our windproof jackets.  The final 200 feet we the hardest because it was steep, boulder covered and we were getting tired.  We reached the summit of Mount Washington at 12:42 pm.  There we many people there and few hiked to the sommit many took the train and road that leads there. But being at 6,288 feet above sea level make you forget all that.  The rest of the trip was just as fun the hicked down the bowl was amazing and at night we played many games of @$$ hole(just remember that jarett was not the president nor vice president).  The night was perfect and we all slept soundly and if you woke late in the night you could see the trees being bent by the wind.  The next day we hicked to our van again and drove back to the school.  But we were all changed by the trip, mainly the rookies, but even the veterans because every trip makes us more of a person in different ways.
The beautiful ridge on Tukerman's Ravine Trail behind you can see the top of the famous bowl where we made our descent of the mountain.
